Another scale tlt-10 Project in the making(pic update1/3/04

Ok, so i am looking for something a little different with the completion of this truck.

First we start with a scale engine block to house the 540 size motor:
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/4...97750000001610
Then we add the tranny and t-case
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/4...a2d10000001610
Next we add revolver shackles
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/4...de950000001610
Heavy duty frame
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/4...d75f0000001610
Aluminum skids
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/4...9dcb0000001610
Jeep body
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/4...7fa20000001610
opening hood
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/4...7f340000001610
75% of frame cut.

There is still a ways to go with the engine intake, belts, pullies and turing fan. The chassis was finished today, sorry no pics. Lots of work to go, but a fun project.

Looks like you copied the text from an EZ board.

Change the [image] tags to [ img ]

remove the spaces, of course.

Cool. 8) Is that body from a Radio Shack RC? I have one sitting in the closet waiting to be put to use - maybe when I build my second TLT. ;)

the body is a nikko body, its pretty sweet. The interior is ripped out to allow my wife to recover the seats.

what are the springs from and how hard were they to get

Re: Another scale tlt-10 Project in the making.

Springs look like those from a Jugg. Very cool project. Can't wait to see what the finished engine/trans/transfer looks like when your done with them.

Re: Another scale tlt-10 Project in the making.

Those are jugg springs and are about $25 for a set from tower.

Thanks guys

Here you go:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...LXNM39&P=7

Keep in mind that tamiya has made various leaf springs over the years. THe mammoth had the stiffest with 5 leaves.
the jugg and semis each have 3 and are stiff,
the bruiser/mountaineer had 3 and are softer
the hilux/blazer had 3 and stiff.

jugg and mammoth springs offer the most arch.

I am doing a begginer tlt for the boys, 10" wheelbase and 4.5" or under tires. I will see how it works. I think I am going to be surprized.

BTW: anybody lunch a front diff yet??? I think I am on my way to the
first one for me. I need jug axles.

Re: Another scale tlt-10 Project in the making.

If you look at the second pic, you can see how the diffs and springs mount. Basically flip them upside down and make a 1/4" stock piece with a hole to mount over the rivot in the spring and mount to the stock tlt link mount.
