| Well, like it or not.........
You guys were a big part of the blame, in my building this truck. I dont remember how I stumbled upon your forum, but I have been searching it ever since for info on this very cool part of our hobby. I found this chassis on Ebay, I liked it so I bought it (he has I think 6 left) the guy did a pretty good job on it too. I have not taken it to a good site yet, just chased the animals around the house. I still have some details to work on yet, like narrowing the wheels and attaching the Rock Rings, widening the axles and making better servo mounts. I have seen some pretty incredible trucks while searching around and I am sure this site will be the blame for yet another big leak in my wallet. As a matter of fact I have already started to gather parts for a Clod rig. Thanks to all you Rock freaks. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...stCrawler1.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...IstCrawler.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...tCrawler11.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...stCrawler7.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...stCrawler5.jpg Last edited by YOKEIFF; 02-22-2006 at 05:45 PM. |

Very nice. Looks like I might just get one of those chassis. What are those drive shafts made from?

Overall I think it turned out great! I have been in the hobby for years now, but this is my 1st "Crawler", so I dont know how objective I am being. Like I said the guy who built the frames did a great job. Its MIG welded, but no jagged or gloppy joints on my frame. Also the Acrylic panels fit like a glove, I didnt have to fit anything. The faux carbon fiber paint job looks good too. I think the frame was well worth the price. I used the standard Stampede trans in mine, I tried an Emaxx trans but it was a little tight. I didnt have any "sliders" on hand, so I dipped into the Hilux -Bruiser box of stuff, and came up with a couple of rear drive shafts, that, with a small bit of trimming, fit very well. The motor is the 55T Integy and so far I have it geared at 87/18. I may drop the pinion to 15 though it seems fast, maybe cause I have only run it inside. I have the 4 wheel steering hooked to a servo reverser for now and am running it with a 2 channel radio. |

The drive shafts are from the old Tamiya Hilux/Bruiser trucks and they do have a bit of a slide mechanisim built into them. The Juggernaught also used them as does the XC / CC-01 chassis. There is enough "give" for this application. | |

Cool chassis. Doesn't look like it has much flex though. I hope that the flex pic wasn't maxed out.

looks cool, the shocks seem to vertical to get any articulation, but if it works for you then more power to ya.
