Sweet! I think if it fits on Ralph, It'll fit on Evil Bastard. |
Just send EB to me...I'll find out for sure. |

New axle parts arrived today! Axle-Cs from SlinkySam. (www.fat-rock.com) http://projecttwin.com/files/axlecs.jpg Now I can get the axles rebuilt tonight. |
Suprised they lasted so long without them. I got some from Xtreme for EB & the others. Wish I woulda known about Sam, woulda got some from him too. |
Sam's are thick and well made. I'm surprised that there hasn't been more info posted on them. |
Those C hubs look really good! The other ones i've seen look pretty hacked. BTW I cant wait to see the finished result. Are you still planning on using all-t's? |
Yup, I compared the two versions of Axle-Cs that were being made and Sam's were the obvious choice for a pig like Ralph. Yeah, the All-Ts in post #12 are new ones that are going on the rig. With Ralph's 14" wheelbase they're about the only tire that "looks right" once installed. The old ones are fine, I just didn't want to boil them off just yet. Might use them for basher tires. Sheldon, I snapped an axle housing on Ralph at UROC. 40ft tumbles will do that. I still have the old housings here somewhere. |
Those look pretty beefy looks good jason cant wait till you get it done. |

1 Attachment(s) Rear axle is almost wrapped up. |
First time I have seen an installed picture of those C's... They look great! |
Jason, I got to ask about the all-t tires....... I have set from the first production run and I finally cut them and got them to hook up okay. But I have been having wheel bounce issues since the last g2g i ran them at..And I am not sure why....How did you cut your foams? I am running half masher 2k foams.. And that Tuber is very cool! Love the nice beasts you build and run! |
Ron, Thanks. I'm running double-narrowed wheels. Install the tires/foams onto the stock width wheels and let'm sit for a day or so. Then yank the tires and foams off, then remove the foams. You'll see where the inner bead has left indented rings in the foams. Just take a knife and cut from the outside corner of the foam towards that indent from the inner bead of the wheel. The resulting foam you remove will look like a conical washer. I do this on each side of the foam. Then narrow your wheels, install the foams in the tires, then mount the tires on the wheels This gives me a full diameter foam that should work well. Have yet to test'm. I ran some BBs in the front tires on Ralph before, might just go with stick on lead weight inside the front wheels this time around. But with the BBs I had to reduce the diameter of the foams and felt that it left the tire a bit too soft. We'll see how the new foams work out. |
