I built the Misfit to look scale but still have some performance. The initial plan was to use the usual 'pede tranny, TLT axles and HPI Geolandar rubber. I really didn't want to use a Jeep body (it seems every other TLT is a jeep) but I had it laying around and was wide enough. Looks scale to me especially when it tucks the Yokohamas in the fenders. The only drawback to this build is the 2 1/8" ground clearance. Guess I'll have to learn to drive.

Basic TLT stats
- 12 1/2 wheelbase
- Geolandar's on Split 5 Spokes
- 'Pede tranny
- Integy 55T lathe
- No pinion/spur installed
- GD600 w/ 3.8:1 reduction

My hats off to DUIdirk and his "Reverse Cowgirl" concept. I just had to try it. It works well in this truck. I'll post some more pictures later.

looks like the body is sitting a tad to high. looks nice though. i was trying to steer away from the jeep body too, but then my buddy bought a bronco so i couldn't be the same as him. using the stock chassis?

I was running the body about 1/2 inch lower but I ended up with more flex than I expected. I still rub the fenders at this height. At this setting the wheels tuck into the fenders. You get a peak at the rear mounted motor with shot.

It is the stock chassis and not a single thing done to it, no extra holes, notching or grinding done to it. The frame rails are really just a place for the body mounts. I wanted to see if I could pull off a capable stock chassis.

Fore and aft CG are pretty good

I got a video coming of the driveway test run. It's well balanced for not being a comp crawler

Here's the technical stuff.

I made up some servo mount plates that relocated the upper bars on the front and rear axles. One interesting note is that there is no telescoping movement in the driveshaft so I could actually run dogbones and not pop 'em. But why?

Rear motor mount is the single most interesting bit of tech on this rig. Actually pretty simple, just a bit alumn. angle notched and sandwiched between the GD and the motor. The GD's output shaft is 5mm which coincidently is the same size as Traxxas's steel yokes. Hack off the input shaft on the tranny and slip on another steel yoke and you got lower cg in a stock tlt chassis. But I suppose you guys want to see pictures

I am gonna need more of a skid plate to protect that endbell.

I forgot to mention it, the motor is reversed wired, some of you might have caught it from the pics.

REALLY NICE video skills!!!!!!! LOVED IT!!!!!!! Hey, am I retarded or blind? I never caught what to use for the T-Case. I am aslo wondering about performance benefits versus the added weight of the extra shaft and the T-Case.

There wouldn't really be much added weight. You trading a Spur gear for a GD600 and a Drive shaft. All in all your getting a much better weight placement.

It's a single stampede tranny with a GD600 instead of a spur/pinion setup. I cut off the whole motor mount section. Actually it's about the size of an old stealth tranny with out the motor plate.

It performs much better than standing the normal 'pede tranny on end and having the motor way up in the top of the chassis. There's very little torque twist. The only real extra weight is one drive shaft with steel yokes but I eliminated the slipper clutch and shortened up the top shaft of the tranny. There's no real extra weight, it's just redistributed.

The original mock up had the motor hanging on the chassis over the front end. If I'd left it there I would have posted this in the scale forum but I wanted some performance. For having very little ground clearance on small tires I think it performs very well. I do have a set of Moabs mounted up on some Traxxas wheels for it but I'm holding off until I get it in some real terrain.

The drive shafts are standard Stampede/Rustler shafts. Until I break a set I'll stick with them.

here's another pic where you can see the battery placement a little better. I have the space to move the battery forward and lower but I'll wait and get some wheel time on it. I can see if I run the taller Moabs I'll probably want to move the battery to keep the CG low.
