Default DX6 winch question for TLT-1

I know this should go into a different forum but I thought I would get a better response here.

Anyway I have a DX6 and I want to use either the rutter to control the winch or possibly the gear switch and I have two ideas.

Option 1: I could use the rutter control to actuate the winch and I would like to mount an on/off switch somehow so I do not accidentally hit the winch when I do not mean to. I was thinking it would be as easy as cutting one of the wires that lead to the controller and mounting an on/off switch somewhere on the controller.

Option 2: The other thought was changing the gear switch to a 3-position switch so I could actuate the winch from there.

So does anyone know if option 1 can be done and if so which wire would I cut?

Or does anyone know if I can change the gear switch to a 3 pos. switch had how I would do that? It looks like in JIA thread that there is on two wires running to the gear switch and I think I need three for a 3 pos. switch.

Has anyone done this type of mod to their DX6 that might be able to help me?

Thanks,

DE
