i fially got tired of tipping over the TLT-10 and reconfigured the battery pack. now it has three packs of two cells, one on each side down low, and one over the front wheels. the initial crawl went well; the truck is much more stable now. attachment to the trucks is really hack: shoe goo and zip-ties. does anyone know of a method that isn't quite so primitive? |

theres loads of ways you could attach your batteries. You could make something like a saddle pack that bolts to the side and the batteries sit in, or velcro them. Velcro might not stick good enough though. Just get creative.

This is what I did with some aluminum angle and some zip ties (the zip ties have a release lever. http://www3.sympatico.ca/licharson/rubi67.jpg http://www3.sympatico.ca/licharson/rubi62.jpg Two 4 cell packs last me over an hour running the lathe motor and 2 servos. You'll have to copy and paste into your browser, I'm being rushed out the door by my wife. Dan. |

i like the E tranny a lot. it's about bulletproof and the choice of ratios is nice to have. that way driving up to the rock pit doesn't take forever. angle aluminum's not a bad idea. it would protect the cells from rock damage. have to look into that. |

Yeah, works perfectly. Keeps everything dry and so far no heat issues with the Super Rooster. My crawler is my first venture back into electric r/c in a long long time. I've been picking up decent used batteries here and there. I run 8 cells total. Last run out I ran a freshly cycled set (2 4cell packs) of kintek 2400's. They have a TON of punch and I still got over 45 min run time. I also have 4 sets of kintek gp3300's in 4 cell packs and they will run forever. The ESC will get slightly warm to the touch, not much more than a few degrees above room temp. Not enough that I think I have to worry about. Since runtime isn't an issue, I may wire in a small cooling fan and position it inside the box aswell. Not so much for cooling, allthough I'm sure the airflow will be a benefit, but rather the purpose of the fan will be to keep a positive pressure inside the electronics box. Having it pressurised, even slightly will keep out most dirt dust and moisture as long as it isn't completely submerged.
