if you have access to cnc why not make the axle bodies smaller than stock. shape them around the ring gear and try to minimize the surface area that can hang up on the rocks, aswell make them rounder.

only problem with that "comp" tuber pictured is that i highly doubt it meets the legal requirements for comps. it looks very small.

Sounds like a fun project, im in the process of building my crawler in a machine shop right now. I just used a CNC macine to cut out my chassis plates and now im making mics parts on a conventional mill

I would want you to think about how you are going to make the axle pieces. There is alot of work involved with measuring the old ones and making programs for the CNC machines. You are going to have to have 4 programs, one to run each side of each housing. If you do plan on making the axle halfs i would defently sugest making them with better ground clearance as sugested above.

Let me know if there is anything i can help you with, seeing as i am working on a similar project.

W0W, that is a nice lookin tuber and I don't usually like the look of tubers. Buiild a full on tig welded aluminum plate/tube chassis with droop setup. Would be nice to make TLT full aluminum axle housings with straight axle for the rear and steering for front only....but make them better! Not just a 'copy' so to speak.

Nope, bethel Maine.

I thought about making axles or a tranny but the problem is that its hard to hold strangle shaped pieces in the CNC mill, if you where to produce a part like this you would likely make special jigs that you could fit the parts into.

i like ther axle ide, but i still think making them out of delrin would be a better idea. nice and light, and super slick for sliding on the rocks
