| Adjustable chassis height design...
i had an idea about an adjustable ride height chassis. In the picture below the servo would move the shock tower back and forth to theoretically raise and lower the ride hieght.... let me know what you think about this setup. ........ |

Its 10x easier to just winch down your suspension. But I have seen this done. doesnt hurt to try it |

then it would be legal. you would just have to have it on a locking stick ( like trottle on an air plane) and have your nuttral position all the way up or down. You clould do this setup in the front and back and hook it up to a y cord. Then you could raise the whole truck and lower it as you please. only problem would be if you get to much pressure on the shocks they might push the servo back and it would prove pointless bu tmost servos are pretty strong....

| I think that would be illegal according to the official rules. I was just looking at them the other day. Under both super and 2.2 class rules it states: “All suspension mounting points must be fixed mounted. This includes all link mounts, and shock mounts.” You can check it out here, it's the second from the bottom of each class list of requirements. http://www.usrcca.com/rules.htm It would be cool to do for fun though, if you are not going to run in any comps. Let us know how it turns out. |

well the mount points are solid but what the mount points are on isnt.... someone that knows an official should ask them...

Bring it to one of our comps... we have lots of officials. Seriously it sounds like a fun project but I do believe it would be deamed illigal in a comp. And you really should loin WARCRC in a comp, next one is at lucia falls.

I think this falls under what the rules refer to as Forced Articulation, which is perfectly legal. It's towards the end of the rules... just my .02 |

it is exactly like winching down your suspension. which is legal. it is a dumb way to do this though...your whole suspension's strength would be based on how much that servo can hold. |

umm im pretty sure the rules say you are aloud to use a single winch line based primarily in the center of the axle to pull the suspension down. Reading is fun | |

You can do that to both the front and the rear suspension using just one servo. Just get a servo strong enough and connect the front and rear rods to opposite arms on the servo.

I think I will have to try this or something like it on my next build. it would take a little tweaking but if you had a servo that traveled 90 deg. or more then you could mak it so that it would rest at either extreme and then it would be strong enough to hold the suspension in place. hotwheels000- I plan on going to a comp with my freind Max when we get our trucks done. I will bring my hummer and when he finishes his hummer(he coppied me) we will probably go to some comps. Would your "officials" be willing to bend the wheelbase rule for Max? he is making a rig that will probably be 13-14 inch wb. Keep the ideas and comments rolling, I think this could go somewhere... |

This discussion has been done: Winching a truck down during your run Although this is about '06 Rules, so if changes have been made in '07................than this is just another worthless thread made by The Robbster. |

we have yet to determine what constitutes forced articulation, which is legal. I believe that line you posted before was to be dropped before nationals. becaue tiii contradicts the actual rule

| the ride height wont change the wheelbase that much. and you could build it to be around 12" WB at its highest point.

lol, what if he ran in 2.2 an ddidnt count in the judging?? I dont think a wk on all-t's would do to well against clods and txts. anyway, back to the original thread I will be interested to see what is legal in the 2.2 class this year. |
