New GC1 Chassis

What do ya think of this chassis? I just bought one from Gatekeeper this weekend. So far I love it. Its stable as hell, light, and climbs unbelievable.

I like it. It looks narrow and the shock position looks pretty good. Interesting link setup. How does it work?

Looks like the GC1 put it on the West Coast guys. Gatekeeper took 1st in the 2.2 at the 2007 Axial West Coast Championships "thumbsup" Congradulations Austin!!!!

Man those links are so messed up. That'll never work, what kind of crack head built that thing?

clodstall 07-03-2007 04:05 AM

looks good other than the links reversed. the uppers go in a V and the lowers just go straight to the chassis. my 2 pennies.

I disagree. Gatekeepers setup is perfect "thumbsup" Great chassis IMO

Gatekeeper 07-03-2007 10:45 AM

it works better than any conv. 4 llink why do you think the 4 link is not set up right:?:

Double J 07-03-2007 11:00 AM

The shaft has it's links kinda like that and it works fine. "thumbsup"

I second that opinion. I watched gatekeeper on all of the 6 courses at Donner Summit. His rig worked perfectly. His driving won him the comp but he couldn't have done it without a rig that worked great. There were a lot of nice rigs there and his performed well enough to take #1.

He was even able to drive over a difficult section backwards. It was a section on the shootout course that others had a hard time with going forward (and it was not a downhill).

Nice rig Austin and congrats.

Looks like an inverted 4 link set up in a way. There are some guys out here in WA that fab up 1:1 comp buggies for a living with a similar set up, they claim it is the most aggressive set up for a forced articulation kind of thing. The main difference is the WA guys that do this foe real run equal length links with the top links running level with a calculated link separation off the axle tubes.

They do strap the middle of the rear to control anti squat with a small winch, and the front is a traditional set up for control for 1:1 comp rigs.

I tried something like this on my very first crawler 3 years ago. It worked, but not as nice as some of today's set ups do like Benders and a few others.

DUDE, you were thinking the same thing i was. It looks just like a S&N fab rear suspension setup. It also looks like it runs equal length links as well. Very cool"thumbsup"

thanks for the pics, I needed something like that:idea:

Your right, but I was trying to keep the name out of it.

Jason and Trevor have been doing the inverted 4 link set up for ever with good results.
