| War Pigs new comp truck w/fancy dig.
Got a little tired of my comp truck. It worked pretty well, but everything can be improved on. I had the Miniwheeler dig, but was not happy with how low it hung. It seemed to get pretty beat up on the rocks. I was at the last WARCRC comp, and a guy from Spokane had a very interesting idea. He used a disc brake from a nitro truck mounted on the rear driveline to lock the rear axle when the dig was operated. I had been considering a carrier bearing for the rear driveline, but wasn't sure how to maintain the dig. This is how my truck looked last week. (notice how low the rear driveline sits) I sold my old dig to a WARCRC member....and the disassembly was on. This is the brake i plan to use for the dig brake After some machining, drilling, and bandsaw work, this is what I came up with. The input with the disconnect will come from the left, and the output from the right will go down to the rear axle. The rear axle will be severely clocked up, so the driveline is above the bottom links. The rear suspension will be a 4-link with no shocks (if I can get my idea to work properly). More to come. Tim. |

I saw Justin's setup at the comp, and liked the concept, but was wondering if there was a way to keep the disc out of the rocks. Looks like you have a good idea there Nathan |

Nice idea warpig, I like seeing all these ideas while I am deployed, makes it easier for me to decide which one to go with when I get back. Keep us posted.

| I just realized that our next comp is in 11 days, gotta get thing finished. I'm going to have alot more belly clearance, about 3" in front of the rear tires. It's going to be interesting to see how the rear 4 link works, the linkage is very funky, but it will have very limited travel (about 1/2"). I need to figure out the torsion bar setup next. Here you can see the rear linkage and carrier bearing setup. Here's a close up of the dig/brake. There will be a rod on the bottom that operates the disconnect, and a rod on top that operates the brake. The tension on the brake will be adjusted with the 3rd channel EPA. So, tell me what you think, is it going to work? God I hope so......... |

that looks good man. you kill me on your creativity with your trucks. They look killer. if i was you i would invest in some clocked axle c's for the rear especially because of the angle that you have the rear clocked at. then i would but some sort of strait axle kit for the rear and cut the arms off of the knuckles because that lock out is going to get hung up everywhere, just my 2 cents |

Looking prety wicked. I hope your gonna build some beefy lower rear links though cause as long as they are I can see them being a weak spot in a nasty tumble.

I decided to try something a little different for the lower links. I bought everything I need today, and will try to get some time to work on it tonight. hint: the lower links are going to be the torsion bars. I just need to fabricate a few things. |

And here it is..... made these today, I'll let you try and figure out how the're used. They're 1/8" lock collars. I drilled and tapped them to 4mm, silver soldered 4mm screws into them, cut the button heads off, and........ .... I guess you'll have to wait till tomorrow to see... sorry guys, I gotta go to bed. |
