new chassis for tlt crawler

i went to the store today and was looking around and found some plxiglass. and thought about building a chassis cause i was just going to take the old chassis and cut it all up. but that would be a little hard. so i am going to make a chassis out of the plexi-glass. i will have a layout by friday i just have to look at the truck and start drawling. and i think that a clear chassis will look sweet.

I'd use G-10 Fiberglass...cheaper than CF yet nearly as strong.

Go to www.mcmaster.com and search for G-10. For the TLT you probably only need 1/16" or 1/8" sheets

Yea plexi is hard to work with. I experimented with it in my sound system but got frustrated. Lexan is better. With so many different materials available why do u wanna use plexi. Just for that clear see through look? Would look sweet though!

well i was at lowes and saw it so i was like humm. so i picked up a few sheets and i am going to see what i can do. i have a dremel so i think i can do anything with that. it just takes time. and time i have, i bought a tlt off of ebay and it has been 8 days and i still have not gotten it so maybe i will tomm. so i can wait. but i just want to try it.

the dremel wont work very good. it melts it and makes purple globs of melted plexi all over your work. the globs can be broken off but it takes forever. i would just go with lexan it will be stronger, more resistant to cracking, and will be alot easier to work will. The only downside i can think of is it may cost more than plexi but you wont need much and it aint that bad. Cool idea though. If you want to go threw the pains of using plexi go for it. You can make the plexi work its just real hard and takes patience. Post pics when your done.
