Default Stealth tuber attempt

Started trying to build a tuber today. Found out my welder is out of gas so I had to use flux core wire to tack it. Nothing special. Integy 55 motor, stealth tranny, cen shocks, RCP locker in the rear. Gotta order another locker for the front. I got a moped and a TQ3 for it. Gotta get some batteries. I am working with a low budget cause we bought a house and all my loot is going into that. I am not copying anyone and I know my welds look bad. I will fix that as soon as I get some argon. Constuctive crutisism is more than welcome. Steering links made from 1/8 allthread. I have been messing with tis all day. Had to mess with the shocks and my drill press took a sh!t on me!

I like the design of it. I need to see the axles on it though, the nose might be a little long. Over all I think it's kickin!

Default tubing bender

Where did you get the tubing bender in the picture? I need to get one.

By the way nice start, keep it up, clean brazing.

Thanks for the info on the benders.

Why do you use MIG instead of brazing? Just curious...

I agree on the nose being a little long looking.
You must be going to run a 6cell stick pack longways over the top links?
With your shocks angled that far back, its gonna cause your steering servo to hit your front roll bars when you crawl and get any articulation.
The reason I know this is I did the same thing on my first tuber.
With your shocks angled back more at the top instead of standing more straight up and down will give you TONS of axle travel up and down.
bends look nice and the welds do to.
You need to remember to try and keep everything low as far as weight goes.
Keep going on it, its the tinkering with a crawler that helps you understand more why it does what it does when its crawling.
I've changed my crawler design 3 times in the last 6 months.

Thanks for the input. This is my first build so it is a learnig experience. Yeah I am going to run a battery in the front between the frame rails. I got three sets of shocks to choose from. I will use whatever works best.

I am getting some work done on this. Had the chassis sand blasted and have been waiting on some parts.

Default new pics

Here are some pics of the truss I made for the axle. I know it's not perfect, but I don't have a mill or anything. Drill and a bandsaw is all I used. I have to get an R2 for it because I don't have enough room for the Stealth.

Last pic just shows how I shaved the tabs and screw holes off with a dremel

Thats a real nice looking truss. A scorpion tranny is cheaper than an r2 and a little smaller than a stealth. Keep up the good work.
