| 14" hustlin
Well I deiced that I was sick of replacing clod parts so I redid my hustler. My original plan was to do a 17"wb super just like the clod version. I figured it was going to be easy just swap some axles drill a few holes and I would be crawling again. I was wrong. With the original links and springs it gave me a 18 1/4" wb and a ton of torque twist. I changed the links and sprigs, shorted it to a 17" wb it was better but not good. So I pulled it apart again and made it a 14r with some stiffer springs and some smaller tires. In that hole process the truck has lost about 2 lbs and is far from done. I started a mamba max and a hyperion 3013. I was asking way to much for that motor. So the brushless is out until I can get a bigger outrunner. So now it has a crawler rooster and a 50t lathe. Its ok but could be better. I was hoping to run knuckle packs with the knuckles from r2j, but I have the wrong adapters and will need to get new ones to have the proper clearance. Here is a quick rundown of parts as of now Hustler super chassis, TXT axles, cvd's, r2j knuckles, custom bta servo mounts, 5955 servos, maxx shafts, t4 trans locked, 15t pinion 87t spur, br6000, knuckle packs, and Giant Tracks. Here it is at 18"+ Here is the 14r |

Way cool! 14'rs rule! Needs Maxx Mashers. T4 trans is from an Associated T4 truck. |

That is really cool!!! I am collecting parts right now to make a 14r with a sw2 chassis. I would love to see some good pics of the BTA servo mounts and link mounts. Thanks, and great job!!

The tires don't rub but will be replaced shortly. The t4 is snug in the chassis but its in there. If I took off the motor guard it would fit better. I just wish that there was a bigger spur than 87 tooth. I can only go down to a 15t pinion because the motor can hits the trans. I shaved it as much as I felt safe, and it still wasn't enough for a 12t pinion. I'll get some more detailed pictures soon.

Looks good Question: Why is your Front Drive shaft in Two shafts How about using a gear reduction unit, then you could save space with smaller Spur and have wide range of ratio selections use a GD600 or a truck puller reduction unit like this reduction unit Far left in picture, 4:1 Last edited by toy4crawlin; 09-11-2007 at 05:02 PM. |

I was running a 2 piece drive shaft in the front to try to save from cutting the front support of the chassis. It worked fine and I had plans to make a bearing support for the jugg shaft attached to the trans. It was less work to trim the frame. I have no room in the chassis to run a gd or even a inline gear reduction. As it sits now the end bell of the lathe is touching the brace for the rear of the skid. I have a piece of lexan wedged in there so the terminals on the motor won't touch the chassis. I placed the trans in there with the outrunner which is shorter. I was hoping to get a crawlmaster for it, but I waited too long to order. Now I am waiting till they are back in stock. I just hope its not to much bigger diameter than a 3013.

The Giant Tracs didn't work as well as I though they would. After watching a friends truck work well with Bowites I got an idea. I liked the look if the badlands but the compound worried me, so I got some Crime Fighters MTR's. I also got a new crawl master out runner in to. So far I am really liking both the tires and motor. There is more power with this motor than the hyperion. I wish I could get it a geared a little lower though. Right now with a 15t pinion the motor is just clearing the trans with some trimming. I can't go bigger on the spur there cause the is nothing bigger than 87t for a t4. Once I get my new adapters in I can run knuckle packs. So all that will be left is the shocks. |

Looks great Tim! Have you thought about narrowing the tyres? Shane |

I put the tires on some super narrow dish wheels I had 1st, they where a little more than 2 beads. But the where too skinny for my taste. The mtr's are so skinny as is. I plan in narrowing the wheels slightly.
