motors

What motors are you guys using for crawling without the help of the gd600 looking to switch to a 55t but what are some other options

dieselfuel 11-04-2007 10:45 PM

www.holmeshobbies.com brushless is the only way to go... you might try one of holmes cobalt puller motors too.

RC Rock Hugger 11-05-2007 05:22 PM

I put Novak brushless goat crawler in in mine with a gd-600 and it works great. I love it, way better than the 55t lathe motor. "thumbsup"

JohnRobHolmes 11-05-2007 05:23 PM

Most people use 55t motors, they are the best all around motor without getting expensive.

EeePee 11-05-2007 05:42 PM

Two 35t in series worked pretty sweet. Small pinion gears, like 9 tooth, or 10.

A single lathe motor is good, but just doesn't have the nads to be great.

Try two Tamiya silver cans in series if ya got them laying around.

JohnRobHolmes 11-05-2007 05:43 PM

Oh yeah, txt section duh.

Two 55t motors in parallel with high voltage, 8t pinions. Or, one big outrunner.

Herzog-racing 11-06-2007 04:43 PM

I ordered one integy 55t and hope it will do better than one 23t motor with the gd600. if it does not work out for the better than I will try a 5800 novak set up with the gd again any down sides on that

dieselfuel 11-06-2007 06:16 PM

the novak high speed brushless setups ( 5300, 5700, 5800, etc...)dont have the control and features a crawler brushless system does. no drag brake, no 100% initial start up, etc...

The high speed brushless systems do have drag brake and are water proof. The old one does not but I have both new and old super sports

tfs55 02-19-2008 05:02 PM

will a single 55t with stock pinions enough to power the txt? mild crawling only.

EeePee 02-19-2008 05:04 PM

Barely, but sort of. Well, maybe with a 9 tooth pinion.

tfs55 02-19-2008 09:50 PM

problem is I dont have enough run time only 15mins with a novak super duty and tamiya rz wired in parallel, 3300mah batts.

EeePee 02-19-2008 10:33 PM

Wire them in series, you'll get a longer runtime.

Bigsky 02-20-2008 01:36 AM

I have two 45turn with 9tooth gears "thumbsup"

bustedcrawler 02-20-2008 03:42 PM

I had twin Kyosho Mag Mayhems prior to the GD600.

Tanis 02-20-2008 07:18 PM

Holmes Cobalt Puller 10T on 3cell Lipo or 8-10 Nihm cells, (no GD600) you will love it;-)

chippieleigh 12-28-2008 01:09 AM

I run my TXT with stock diffs & tranny, 40 series moabs, novac rooster crawler ESC, integgy 45t lathe motor with 8t pinion & an intelect 4200 mAH, 7.2v NiMH battery. It scoots around the flats quite quickly but seems to stall under load while climbing. would twin 45's in series or paralel be better, or a single 55 or 60 stop it from stalling? thanks.

666 12-28-2008 08:14 AM

A gear reduction unit will cure the stall. "thumbsup"

chippieleigh 12-29-2008 06:28 PM

thanks, GD 600 it is then !
