Default How would a WK tranny hold up?

I'm just trying to think of ways to get the COG lower, has anyone tried a Wheelie King tranny yet? If so how did it hold up?

Th wheely king tranny is very top heavy and tall. The motor is the highest part of the transmission. You need to get the motor all the way down to the floor. Axial tranny are awesome and many people use the trxxas stampede tranny on there builds. The only thing i got left wheely king on my crawler is the axles.

Ok, I have it clocked and overall its a lot lighter and no higher than the TXT tranny I have in my TXT crawler. So, what I am specifically wondering is if anyone has tried it in a TXT crawler and if its strong enough.

I'm seriously doubting an Axial would hold up well and I guess I could try a really built pede but I don't think it will hold up.

I think it depends entirely on what wheel and tire combo you plan on running.
the WK trans is 1.87:1 compared to the txt's 6ish:1
add to that the fact that the TXT axles are 2:1 instead of 2.92:1 like the WK, and you have some pretty tall gearing even with a GD in forn of it.

I ran a WK trans and Axles with 6.5" imex krocks, and managed to break one axle shaft, and abuse the clicker sliper in the WK trans with a 55turn and 13/96 gearing. the rig weighed about 8 lbs.

you might get away with it on regular maxx sized and a GD, but the torque may be too much for the WK trans.
on regualr 5" tall 2.2's I wouldn't worry as much about it.

As always stickiness of compund, driving style and rig weight all factor in

no waranties expressed or implied, not available in all areas, cancel any time.

Thank you, exactly what I was searching for. I guess I'm sticking with the TXT tranny for now.

I have an R2 Heavy Duty that I ran in my TXT super with 40 series Mashers, the reduction is perfect and with a Cobalt Puller 10T motor, it has plenty of torque and wheelspeed, especially on 3cell lipo. And the gears are beef in the new Heavy Duty version, as well as getting the CG as low as possible.

EDIT: From seeing how a small brushless motor in a 2.2 can take out a WK tranny, I don't think they are up to the task for a super.

I have seen a clocked TXT trans before, with one 55turn in the bottom position.
it does require a little custom mounting obviously.

My TXT tranny is clocked right now, I've had a couple of R2 trannies without an issue but have heard about a lot of problems. Tanis, how long have you been running the HD R2?

A couple of months, and I even tested it's strength with my Big HH Hyperion brushless motor. I have destroyed standard R2's before, grenaded the gears in them. The HD version has gears that are twice as thick, and configured differently, for a better transfer of power with the same reduction, there are more gears inside. The hard part was drilling the output shafts for the crosspin(hardened steel, drillbit eating.....)

Well, looks like that is my answer. They are 5mm outputs right?

Hmmm, doesn anyone make a stronger output? I'm suddenly thinking those+alloy tranny case+stonger outputs+VF dig=best solution ever.

The Axial is 2.6:1, anyone know what the TXT tranny is?

They are 5mm outputs, and if you use Revo shafts, they are a little sloppy, but maxx shafts with the right yoke are good. I haven't noticed any problems with the little bit of wobbling from the Revo's. Course, you have my axles now, so I don't have my shafty super anymore.
