Default Just bought a Mog

Hey guys just wondering a couple things. Which wheel tires fit this chassis. I just ordered the Junfac 4 link and wanted to get some scale looking shocks as well. Any help will be great. Oh one more thing who and where can I buy the gear reduction kit? Thanks

This is going to be my first attempt at a scaler. I live in the Pines so there are some really cool trails here.

I use RC4WD Rock Creepers. Slightly bigger than stock but way softer.

Welcome to the club!!! The only regret you'll have with that truck is if you get rid of it. So easy to maintain and drive just makes it so awesome.

First mod is trim the treads on the tires, then lock the rear. Better grip and more pushing power to clear the sticks.

Thanks guys! I can't wait to get this truck, been wanting one for a long time. I will just have to wait and see what the tire situation is because I don't have the truck yet but I do like the RC4wd stuff. If I do go with another tire will most 1.9's fit the Tamiya rim? Next hurdle is deciding on a theme.

I am using the stock rims. Rock Creepers fit quite nicely. Inside bead does require a little 'massaging' to get it to fit but so fr no issues.

Its called a Great Planes GD-600 Be warned you either need to drill out the center of your pinion or turn down the shaft on the GRU to fit a stock pinion. (I did it with a dremel and a motor turning the shaft on the GRU) Ghetto but it worked as a makeshift lathe.

Great Planes GD-600 ELEC GEAR DRIVE 2.5:1

In my opinion its worth about $14.99 as thats what I paid for mine, but that price is not "too" bad.

It gives 2.5 to 1 gear reduction.

Other options are the RC4WD units, they are smaller, but more money and I am unsure about how durable they are.

Thanks for the info. Can you post a pic of how it looks in your truck? I'm a bit confused on how to install it. Does the output shaft connect to the drive shaft? How do you attach it to the chassis?

Will the HPI reduction unit for the wheelie king fit? I found one at tower.

Does anyone have a link to an install? I really need some help.

This is my rig (before my new winch spool) but it shows the GD-600 at least

I would think (my rig) anyway would be WAY too slow with a wheely king GRU... those are like 7.4 to 1 I think....

Note that with this GRU you have to run your motor backwards (see the red/black connector switched) I have 0 degrees of timing so it was no issue to swap my motor direction.

Yes I run old school powerpole connectors, they are 100 reusable and pretty much zero loss like deans so I love em

Thanks Flow I appreciate the pic. I really don't mind the truck running slow. For me I read that the HPI Unit is easier to fit which better for me( pinions fit without any grinding). I have a 35t that I can drop in if need be. There is nothing wrong with powerpole connectors

Just waiting for parts to arrive before I start my build.
Junfac 4 link
GPM steering rack
RC4WD creepers
Bearings.
Can't wait it's going to be fun. I am a huge Tamiya fan!

Well being that every Unimog I come across is usually tarped or a flat bed. I have been racking my brain trying to come up with a scale theme! I have decided on one and here it is. A Desert Taxi. What do you guys think!? LOL...

Today I received the Junfac four link

Does anyone use the Yeah racing universals? Are they any good? Its a toss up between those and the GPM ones. Tamiya ones are nonexistent.

I forget what brand mine are, Probably GPM... make sure you get the STEEL universals (or CVD's) (not aluminum) They are the same as a Tamiya TA02 so if you are looking at e-bay or something, check under CC01 and TA02.
