Default Tightening the Slipper

I know there has been other threads on this before, but I just wanted to say what a huge difference it made with my Tekin FX-R 45t combo. I just tightened the slipper a little bit and it started climbing where before it would just sit there and heat up the motor.

I also seen other threads where people say that there brushed motor didn't have enough power, which is what I was experiencing, but I think they need to tighten the slipper a bit more is all.

I received an email from Rich at Losi explaining that the slipper on the Crawer wasn't intended to be adjustable. This is why there is the spacer on the shaft. The slipper is designed to only slip under an extreme shock to the drivetrain.

However, in my experience I have found that the slipper does tend to loosen up and start slipping. I rebuilt the slipper and not only used two lock-nuts to keep it from getting loose but blue lock-tite on the nuts as well. So far, so good.

Mine had to be tightened. It got to where it would barely crawl over anything.

Same here. I tightened it a couple times til it finally didn't slip at all really.

I think i tighten mine to much and it put a huge load on my motor.

Kinda tweaked it a little, small adjustments and it was good to go.

You can't tighten it too much unless you crush the spacer. Even if you did tighten it too much it wouldn't put any additional load on the motor except in a bind or a drop. It would act just like a gear would. Now if the mesh against the idler is too tight then there would be a load on the motor.

I just put a wrench on the nut to hold it still and rotated the drive line with my fingers untill it was tight. Does not slip anymore and no risk of over tightening it. Plus you can do this in the field.

the baby allen key fits in the end of the bolt that the nut tightens on

thats wierd then. as soon as i loosend it off it seemed to work better. before it would climb nothing at all.

the motor backlash was perfect.

The easy solution is to just scuff the slipper pads a little bit, than you dont have to torque the nut down too hard to keep it from slipping. You can only tighten the nut down so far before the cup washer bottoms out on the shaft. I am glad their is a slipper on the rig..better than trashing the drivetrain.
