Default Dumb Question

Does anybody know off hand if the new V3 axle shafts will work with the orginal style stub axles?

I saw a picture of them and it looks like they have O-Rings to keep the pins in.

The V3 have a chamfer on the inside of the cup to allow for the straight shaft. I think the v2 stubs will fit but you won't get all of the steering angle because they will hit the axle. This is just from looking at them, I have not measured or tried to fit the 2 together.

The V3 shaft will technically bolt on however it will hit the inside of the original stub axle at full throw. As mentioned above there is a chamfer inside the new stub axles to allow for max steering angle.

There is also a Spring retainer to hold the pins in place. Although an after thought, you do not need the set screw inside the coupler to hold the pin in place. In fact I have found a few that bound up a little with the setscrew installed so if you happen to feel a little binding, just remove them.

I'm making a running change that will eventually will not have a hole in the coupler for the set screw.

I've been running mine w/o the set screw and they have held up fine. I just bought a 2nd set from Horizon the other day for the MOA losi.

I think no set screw is good because you are not putting a side pressure on the pin constantly, retainer sping holds the pin in just fine. I've been running mine with Max EPAs and so far no issues at all.

Thanks guys! I'll make a set of emergency assemblies with the original stubs and new style shafts.
