Default new crawler

well i just want to say that im the new guy on the block. for weeks i was on here just checking things out, and the other day i went and bought a comp crawler. i did everything for the axles as far checking the shims, to the drilling the axles. i even rigged a full size servo for the dig and set it up to my m11. after i robbed some stuff from my buggie, and an e-maxx (took the speed control and a motor). i went to the wood shed,it's to muddy to play outside. but anyway this thing is awesome, but my only problem so far is wheel weight, when i have 2 1/16 scale batteries on it, it has enough weight. but that is easily fixable. in 2 weeks im going to go brushless, but was thinking about a 13.5 turn. but not sure yet. i just want to say thanks for the good info on here.

Welcome to the addiction, and believe me it is an addiction. There is always something else you want to buy for the crawler to make it better.

I wouldn't go with the 13.5 if it was me. A friend of mine was running a 17.5, and it would still stall out some times. Just some info for you. Welcome to the RCC club.

Go with the 18.5 novak system on 3S. Perfect wheelspeed and torque. I have the 13.5 with 14mm rotor on 2S and it's o.k but lacks a little low end grunt.

Run the V3 axles they are the best, and I run a Novak goat 13.5 with the 3S and it is perfect plenty of torque and great wheel speed, Just make sure you get a good battery 30C is best.

Congrats on the Losi it's a great rig

Just out of curiosity...

What kind of run times can you get out of these Losi Comps? I'm hearing about how the worm gears are very hard on electronics and gearboxes, where heat becomes an issue.

Guys are reporting anywhere from 8min to 1/2 hour. I got about 10min on a 3 cell thunder power 1320. Goat3 w/ 18.5 novak crawler system. I went to a Berg due to, lots a mantinence, low run time, lots of stalls, ( usaully right in the middle of a Comp).

What would have to be done to give the rig longer run times?

Out of either my Holme 1300 3 cell or my flight power 1345 3 cell I can see well over 20 minutes using a Novak Goat 2 cell ESC with an 18.5 motor. I had my axles apart, did all the stuff with them. Then it was a few months later I took them apart to check them and they were still good. It might be getting close to time to check them again though. I find the Losi has less service work required than my Berg did. That's all opinion I guess though.

I never should have loaned you that 3s pack. I got 30 - 45 minutes on 3s 1300 mah packs with a goat setup. Now that I am MOA I am getting about 30 minutes the same 3s 1300 packs.
