Dig servo BBQ

Chime in if you have cooked a dig servo. just cooked one last night trying to get it adjusted correctly. wasnt paying enough attention to the dig shaft binding and kept adjusting for travel...damn i feel stupid. oh well there goes another 30 bucks.

dont feel bad i smoked two till i got it right

I made the mistake of assembling everything and THEN trying to set EPAs. Fried the first Hitec 225 real quick.

Sneed 03-25-2010 11:34 AM

Yep it happens. I smoked my 255mg setting the epa's. I learned quickly to set the epa's around 15-20 and start from there. On my setup I think I'm 20 one way and the other about 32ish. I run a home made servo mount like the rcbros, that's the reason for the epa #'s

I set mine by having it not move and then upping the values till it was right. I am pretty sure that can be done on any remote but maybe not. At any rate you shouldn't fry any servos this way.

Super Woody 03-25-2010 01:20 PM

Yep figured that out a little late...:lmao:i tore the servo apart and cleared up the solder that melted and it works in one direction now but with very little power. i figured i might as well try since i already got another on the way.

I got luckey only stripped the gears. When I powered up with endpoints not set so I think I was luckey a 10dollar fix for new plastic gears. So hope everyone else doesn't have it so bad.

benoj 03-25-2010 04:41 PM

ya i fried my 225mg when settin epas so what i did was unsolder the servos board and found an old digital servos board and wired it up and now its digital with no fears of it goin up in smoke

I haven't cooked one yet but the epa adjustment is so touchy I was wondering if this wouldn't be an ideal place to use a servo saver?

cliffdawg 03-26-2010 04:52 PM

So I got my truck up and running tonight!:ror: I have an msx12, and I think that I burnt mine out. It still works but for some reason I can only handle two active possitions even when in 3 way mode on my dx3e. One possition is fully expossing the shaft of the gear. second position pushes that shaft all the way in:lmao:.... SEriously... then the next possition makes a sound but does not move the shaft any further because it cant move. But its yet to burn out. Any help from anyone? Then nice thing is I can still dig, just front dig. (front wheels move rear do not)

Well thanks for the help,
Ryan

silentcircus 03-28-2010 01:16 PM

Just toasted another one this morning. Damn. These things are touchy on EPAs. Was just trying to set them as far out as possible and.....Toast.
