The added wheel speed you get from 3S is "just for fun". Well worth it in my mind !!!!!!

I agree, go with 3s lipos, I ran my LNC w/ a Mamba Maxx, HH Revolver Black and 2s lipo for a while, switched to 3s and I am very happy I did, it is much more capable, better power and more wheelspeed, it isn't just for fun, it will get you through some situations 2s will not. The torque w/ my setup on 2s was great, plenty of power but the 3s feels much better and the extra wheelspeed is very much welcomed.

On my LNC I ran an MMP on a 13.5 18 t on 2s worked well, then I went 16 t on 3s and it was awsome.

If you just want to crawl for fun and have no plans to comp, just stick with the stock LNC ESC and get a Titan 550 21t motor. The stock ESC has 2s lipo cutoff and the Titan motor will give you a nice increase in torque.

I wouldn't spend the money on a brushless setup unless you intend to run lipo batteries and plan to do some comps. For backyard fun and nimh batteries, the stock stuff is fine.

This is the set-up I run as well. I am overall pretty satisfied with the crawlability but if I were to do it again I would save some $$$ and go with a brushed set-up. I say this because a brushed motor will give you the same good low speed control as a sensored brushless, and given the worm drive no active braking is needed.

IMO: Save some $$$ and go with a brushed!

Brushed motors are good for worms? a rooster crawler combo 45 will be fine??

novak 18.5T brushless with goat 3s!! Love it! When i run the 2s battery it's good and strong, but not as fast. Throw the 3s lip in and it's an animal!! Wheel speed is great and it can blast or hop up a lot of obstacles. Just be careful with the 3s lipo because with the extra power its easier to break something.

Brushed motors are great with worms. If you go with the Goat ESC you are paying for more features you would ever use like progressive braking and drag brake. If you were runing a ring and pinion rig (i.e. Axial) than a Goat combo would be a decent choice.

If you are set on Novak, rooster is a good choice. But personally I would suggest Castle Sidewinder or Holmes Hobby Torque Master.

I would heavily consider a 35 turn motor over the 45 turn motor. And be prepared to keep it in top working condition. Brush motors in the Losi are very doable, but the truck is HARD on em.

Aggreed, 35T motor would be the highest i would go. Anything higher would be too slow.

I just noticed he asked about a Night Crawler. Eh, I still think the same, 35 turn > 45
