Default kbogger's 2013 shafty build

Ive never really done a build thread but i had a great idea for a chassis so I thought I would share. Ive had my Losi a little over a year, it started out as a night crawler and transformed several times. I recently got bored with the stock chassis, I know it can be built to work very well but I cant leave well enough alone. Ive always liked the UGC FF-4 chassis so I started to shop for one, earlier this week i bought one from the classifieds with an undrilled skid. It showed up yesterday so i figured i would start on it tonight. Heres what I got so far.

It took a little work with some files and my dremel, it fit nicely.

Here is a really rough mock up with spare links but i got 12.5" by swapping some rod ends around.

I havnt decided on my shocks yet, its between lcc shocks or cap modded scx10's

a quick run down:
tekin rs
tekin redline 17.5 14t pinion
fmj mod axles with hd gear in front
hitec 7954 with cc bec
shaved white rovers C.I. DD foams
custom delrin axle plate
turnigy 3s 850mah batteries
VP V2 wheels 850 and 600 hubs

Its just enough for my driving, I don't know what I could compare it to but the ax10 guys at our local comps say its peppy for a losi.

I made a little more progress, i went with my trusty lcc shocks( gold springs-30 wt oil front- 40 wt oil in rear). I used half of a jeepindoug losi shock standoff and a 4-40 nut drilled out to 1/8" for mounting, btw these standoffs are awesome they make the upper mount extra smooth. I also scored a few extra parts with this chassis, it came with gunnar body mounts and they almost line up perfect with the mounting holes i already had in my body.

I have it in my redneck chassis jig now, i got my shock angles where they look right now on to working out some links. I have my lengths estimated pretty close, ill be cutting down some 5/16" delrin lowers ive been using a while. Ive skimmed through idk how many threads and posts about these chassis's, all my measurements are based closely to what has been proven with ax10 based rigs. The Losi stock geometry is very very similar to the ff4 it sure makes things easy.

Well it's been a while since i've had much time for the losi, I recently bought an scx10 jk kit so the rush to build it went ahead of progress. Now that is finished and i also finished up my comp crawler so here's some updates.

picked up some lunsford Ti links from Crawler Innovations and some delrin link sliders from D Lux fab. getting the lengths right took quite a bit of measuring and research but they turned out perfect.

I went thru several options for electronics placement and settled on this, I also got some new Gunnar body mounts with delrin braces.

I ditched the crowd pleazer body for an xciter just for better rollovers. This may be the worst color choices ever but they are growing on me, I had a few cans of paint to finish off.
