| Hulksta's 'Monsta' MOA
Time to build my very first MOA! And here we go.. i like my losi and wanted to stay losi so its losi based When it come to chassis i went with a BLC Chopper chassis, its got a really nice shape to it and the fact its made for the losi is even more reason... And the electrics, Tekin RS esc's and the 17.5t brushless motors with the 13mm high torque rotors I had to weigh them lol, i only used half the motor wire, the bit i cut off weighed 13g so they are great for keeping weight down if going brushless Last edited by Hulksta; 04-23-2011 at 09:19 PM. |

Heres the high torque rotor (bottom) and stock (top) Ive never pulled one of these apart before and thought there might be a few people in the same boat so i took some pics.. It was supper easy! after removing the ends stuck it in the mini vice and pulled it out.. When fitting the new one the vice made it easy to line up.. Next i stuck the BLC regears in the lathe and took 1mm off them to gain extra clearance from the pinion grub screw and aid in pulling them off to clean/regrease in the future.. Nice and easy to get off without removing anything.. Mounted Axles together.. I made some skids out of lexen card with a heat gun and a piece of delrin behind the axle.. Mounted on the chopper.. Last edited by Hulksta; 04-23-2011 at 09:21 PM. |

Ive been using titanium & alloy screws with alloy nuts to keep weight down in this build too... I used the losi battery mount to mount the battery in this... But needed a diet first hehe.. A pic of it all fitted, i used the stock losi rear esc mounting tray to mount the nomadio receiver just cut down and lightened but forgot to get a pic Last edited by Hulksta; 04-23-2011 at 09:21 PM. |

Now one thing ive been very keen to find out is how it compares to the losi weight wise... and to say the least im very surprised My losi as it stands - batt/wheels/lid... 1108g The chopper... 1214g Rear axle losi.. 513g Chopper... 538g (not the big difference i was expecting) Front losi... 580g Chopper... 638g Last edited by Hulksta; 04-23-2011 at 09:22 PM. |

You may of noticed by now but i'll post anyway... The shocks i used are the losi ones i lathed down like my LCC and to suit the chassis i did the rod end mod to them to gain a little height as im using semi droop f&r... Just a few comparison pic of the two... And the chopper with lid... 1280g Theres more to come when parts arrive, ive got more stuff to bring the weight of both rigs down some more, ive got RCBros high clearance knuckles and new steering linkages... for now its running (thats after it took me 5hours to find a fault in my wiring! a BIG thanks to Linc for his help!!) and i plan to test it tomorrow Last edited by Hulksta; 04-23-2011 at 09:23 PM. |

Nice build. You cant go wrong with that Tekin ESC & BL motor combo. I have exactly the same on my MOA and in almost one year of use with the Hotwire, its been reliable and extremely adjustable. Let me share you some tips on setting up your electronics: 1. When programming with Hotwire, disconnect both ESCs from the RX. 2. Connect your RX to either the ESCs BEC, so that if your external BEC fails, the ESCs will not run-away. 3. With stock rotor I use 15T pinion and with hi Torque rotor I use 16Tpinion. 4. It is possible that even both ESC/Motor are set-up the same, one motor will spin faster than the other. Use this to your advantage. Also, be ready to give your worms regular lub and teardown for maintenance, this motor/ESC combo is very powerful, For example, I had a broken front Hex pin and bound the front axle and the motor was so powerful it actually twisted the front axle housing and split the outer race of the the smaller hub bearing. Wow ! The Chopper is at 1214 grams ! Thats like the weight of mine, but you have TWICE the motor now !! I am interested to see more progress and any videos you may have !! Also curious on how much more weight you can shave on the LCC, I am following your direction on this one !!

As i just posted in my LCC thread I found some aluminum balls for the links/shocks to replace the steel ones, got all bar 7pairs done.. all up it will be about 13g of weight lost I also thought the chassis cross links could go on a diet too.. Before After... new ones but reduced in the centre Belly shot.. Im still waiting brass stock to finish the wheel weight system, with a bit of luck it will be here tomorrow..
