Default Losi Lowrider Rebuild

So I'm rebuilding my losi and thought I needed to get with the times. So I hit up ghtpdm5 up for one of his new chassis and a set of wheels. Firstly thanks a lot Pete the finish and quality of both the wheels and chassis are amazing. I got a g10 chassis and g10 rims. At the moment I'm not certain on links or anything but it is looking alright. I want to lower it some and shorten the front links.
Parts list:

Front axle:

HD worm
Aluminum chubs
Aluminum knuckles -shaved for more steering
BWD upper link mount
Aluminum servo mount

Rear axle
:

Standard worm
BWD upper link mount

Electronics:
Motor: Novak 13.5 ballistic crawler
ESC:
Servo: Hitec 7950

Wheels and tires:

TAG g10 rims

Specs:
TAG Lowrider chassis
LCC shocks a internally sprung
Aluminum links

Here's some pics.

Thanks mate. Yeah I was just looking at that. I think I'm gonna have to talk to Pete about it. I know if he was to do another run I would buy two sets. So there's just around 8 more to go.

Looking good mate. You can fit VP AX-10 zero Ackerman knuckles on without any drama, that's an easy way to increase steering.

Thanks. Been doing some measuring and I need to shorten the front links by about half an inch to get the wheelbase about right.

Haven't heard of that one before. Got pics or a link? I think I've got a set of those knuks around and a Losi axle that could use them. But Losi steering is limited to how far the CVD will turn and knuckles won't help that. So you using AX10 axles too?

My steering can't really go any further. I've ground the chubs and knuckle weights a little to max the steering out.

I think there is some pics or link under losi tips thread. I used a losi axle and a axial stub end as the hole for the pin is different spot, also the thread sticks out the wheel more too.

This one has a link back

Well I've ran the truck a few times and all seems to be great. It feels really stable and smooth. I still need to get a new mmp and servo. But now that Christmas is out the way that shouldn't be a huge problem. As it sits with the losi body.

I've ran the rig and she goes great. The CANZ rules have slightly changed for the new year. Where we can now run bta steering in sporty. So I might change the steering setup around. Just looking at making a front batt/servo plate. I got some aluminum to make some new steering links as well as match the uppers and lowers. Should come out looking great. I'm going on holiday next week so it might move slow. But once I get back well get rolling along again.

That is a good question. I can't remember. I got the shock off redrokin1978. I think the two last numbers are wrong actually. But he had a build thread, great guy too. I'm pretty sure he noted what springs they are cause all I remember is he got them at his local hardware shop. They just always worked so well I've never really looked.

Damn I got to update this thread.

So I got the day off today and thought I'd make some movement on the rig. Its been real busy. I've got the 4x4 to keep going and need to work on the kingswood. Anyway the postie dropped off some parts the other day (thanks Clint). I'm now running a hitec 7950. Which is pretty sweet. But I need to get or make a servo/batt plate.

Also made up some new alloy front links and have titanium rear lowers. I've just got to make the rear uppers and I'm all good. The alloy links look a lot better too. Shortened the wb a bit. It was a little long before. Hopefully I get some pics up but whenever I seem to update the thread my car is in pieces. So I'll have to dig up some action pics.

Well I have been saying for ages to get another MMP. I had one in my other losi and have been running a Novak timbuk 2 just because it has been running fine even though its a novak. And as the saying goes 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. But it has just shat its self and now I'm up for a MMP. So its a good excuse to upgrade I guess.

Just out of curiosity (because I have the mmp) would there be an advantage/disadvantage to running say a mamba mini/micro?

the mamba mini and sidewinder micro both suffer from the same problem. no sensor port.

without the sensor, the esc just pattern fires, hoping the rotor is where it thinks it is, this causes the low speed cog inherent to sensorless motors. with the sensor, it reads the magnetic field via a hall effect sensor pack in the ass of the motor, so the esc knows where the rotor is in rotation, and adjusts the pattern fire accordingly.

Thanks, that makes sense

That's all smart talk for without a sensor at low speed your rig will run like sh!t. It cogs and is not fun.
