Talking Texas Scale Event coming soon....

Well guys i wanted to give you guys a heads up so you can be preparing. I'll be puting on a big scale event this spring. Sponsors, giveaways, BBQ, competition, and a general good time. We may even have trophies or cash prizes. nothing is set in stone yet, i just wanted to give a heads up for building time.

Any and everyone is welcome to attend. Not a club specific event.

Date May 2nd 2009
Location: Belton Lake, Belton TX, Miller Springs Park.

1.9 Class Only
The comp will be limited to 1.9" sized rigs only, measured at the wheel bead.

- This class is for the typical street legal rigs, that you run off road. aka a daily driver / weekend wheeler, something you would drive to and from the trail.
- All Tires must be OEM 1.9" tires and un-modified. tire can be no larger than 4.4" tall.
- Reduced 2.2 tires are not allowed
- Track width can be NO more than 9.5"
- Flywheels brand wheels, CAC 2.0 wheels, 1/18 scale Nylint brand wheels and tires will be allowed.
- You must run a complete body, including bumpers, fenders, doors & tailgates. Slight fender trimming is allowed but the basic shape must be retained, Fenders may be cut, or flat fendered, but it must resemble a 1:1 rig you'd see on the street. If you remove the tailgate, you must have a complete floor and drop bed. If you want to remove your doors, you must run a full interior. "Iffy" Vehicles must be approved by the Scale Committee members.
- A shortened or lengthened body is allowable. A tubed bed must have a Functional bed area capable of carrying a full-size spare laid flat (rear fender and tailgate rules do not apply to tubed beds).
- No 4 wheel steer or rear steer at all ! If you have more than 2 axles, the FRONT axles are the ONLY ones that can steer.
- No " DIG " of any kind is allowed.
- A body larger than 1/8th scale is not permited.
- Wheelbase is limited only by your body, and tires must fit/ be centered in your fender wells.
- Doved nosed bodies are allowed, but bed must remain full width, but can be bobed/shortened a max of 1"
- Vehicle must have a frame-railed chassis. Tubed frame rails are ok.
-Chassis Rails must extend over the axle. Frame extentions are not permited.
- Vehicle battery must be mounted on the chassis. Mounting the battery above the steering servo/axle/upper links is not permitted. The goal is to place the battery where it is not visible for a more scale appearance.
- You may add weight to your wheels, but you are only allowed a maximum of 12 total oz's. You can put it in whichever wheels you want, but 12 oz is the total.
- MOA axle's are not permitted.
- 1 rig/entry per driver, same rig cannot be used by multiple drivers.

If you feel your rig is borderline, be prepared to modify it if it does not pass tech inspection. AND/ OR bring a BACKUP rig just incase.

Tubers: If you plan to run a tuber, It must have a full interior, 2 front seats SIDE BY SIDE, a dash, a steering wheel, a hood panel, a roof panel and a left and right side panel. If it is a jeep, it needs to resemble a jeep. The minimum size for the tubers is as follows:

Height 5 " , measured from bottom of skid pan to the roof top
Width 5 " , measured from the middle of the door bars, side to side
length 14" , this does NOT include bumpers or stingers, just the chassis

NOTE: this does not apply if you have a truggy or back halfed truck with a conventional frame and cab.

Point System: Competition will follow USRCCA rules, other than time and max points, we plan to run 1-2 LONG comp courses, and free for all trail run after.
On the comp courses there will be no time limit, however +1 point penalty will be assessed for every 5 minutes used. (ie, if it takes you 22:47 to complete the course, you will be assessed +4 points) Also, max points per course is 80.

There will points deducted for these scale items, these will happen at tech inspection and be deducted from your final TOTAL score at the end of the day. Max deduct points per rig is 25. You must have at least 2 scale items to compete. ie a highlift jack, and sleeping bag. Items are your choice, suggestions below.

1. Hard body -5
2. Leaf sprung, 1 axle -2, both axles -5
3. Trailer " must be towed during entire comp " -5
4. Interior -3 , with driver -5
5. Spare tire" Functional " -3 , looks only -1
6. Winch for looks only -1
7. Winch Functional - 3
8. Led's of any kind, must be front and rear and functional during comp -2
9. Bumpers, front -1 , rear -1, both -3
10. Tube frame, exo cage, tube bed, must be made of METAL -3
11. Roof rack, ladder rack, headache rack, must be made of metal -2
12. Boat or canoe, must be removable -3
13. Chassis mounted steering servo -5 , Axle mounted servo +2
14. Camping stuff - Cooler, sleeping bags , tent, camping gear, shovel , axe -1 each
15. Recovery stuff - hi-lift jack, tools, pick, jerry can, Functional tow strap, snatch block -1 each

only 1 of each item permitted, ie 14 sleeping bags will not be allowed.

Winching:
- if you use YOUR winch on YOUR truck, +2
- if someone winches you or tow straps you , Rescue +5

Wheel Nut deep water is possible in a few spots, water proofing recomended but not required.

i will make another official post once date, location, sponsors, flyers, details etc are all in place.

Thanks and hope to see you there.
Cory

Austin is ideal for me, but I could probably do San Antonio also. Look forward to hearing more!

Beaumont sounds good to me, but hell just make it Spring Creek and I'm good....LOL

Nah Austin is good, San Antonio's fine, where ever as long as there is plenty of lead time about the date, I do have a family and work that comes first.

I'm not sure how many of our club will actually attend due to the lack of pure scalers, but just maybe this will influence a few builds for next year.

Shit, My schools finals are during those two weeks, so I may be out.

EDIT: I just checked and I believe most Texas colleges will be in finals during that time, just something to think about, I'm not sure how many peeps are in school.

Well I'm going to mess with anyone driving a pink rig, but I will admit that you really pulled off the pink rig, yea I think the flames saved it from the land of Barbies.

And when that is done, can someone post pics of the terrain? It would be nice to know if we'll need wheelspeed or torque for the trails.

Also, is there a fee??
