M2K's are the only tire I've narrowed, and it was easier than I thought it would be. There are lines in the lugs you can follow to cut about a 1/2" out of the center. Then carefully glue them back together. I used regular CA, it worked fine. I've read that the rubberized CA is even better. Run an extra bead around the inside of the carcass for extra strength. There are quite a few different tire narrowing threads here, just search around. I also cut an extra notch in each lug w/ a new pair of sidecutters (I'd post a pic, but all I have is my camera phone and it would be all blurry) this made the overall carcass much more flexible. Easy to do also, just time consuming. |

i have the jordans xtreme makes. they are a good tire but i decided to cut some rubber out in the center. looking at the rock claws if you run your thumb across the tread like it would be driving forward you get a lot of resistance. on the mashers, not so much in the center. after i cut them like this i seen a major improvement in them now if i run my thumb across the middle there is a lot more resistance there. i am thinking of siping the outer lugs next |
