Have you considered HB rovers? One of the best tires out.

I 2nd that on the Rovers. I went from Panthers to the Rover, and I'm quite pleased with them. I still like the Panther, but the additional height of the Rover is helpful.

Pretty sure that the Rover and the Grabber are almost the same size. You need to shave front of you axle cases if you haven't done that already. I ran Rovers with Panther foam in them on my clod and they did really well. You also need to run a berg offset wheel or clod offset if you can find them. But i ran both tires and im pretty sure that the grabbers were almost the same size if not taller.

I've never seen the HPI in person, but if you're wanting taller than the Rover, I don't see it happening...at least not in 2.2.

Yeah the Grabbers and the Rovers are pretty much the same size and as far as i know are the tallest 2.2 tires on the market. The Rovers are a little better then the Grabbers. To get a taller 2.2 tire your going to have to make one or go to super wheels.

Because of the USRCCA rules, and the fact is that any taller than 5.5" is to tall for a 2.2 comp tire. The only option you really have is to build your own. That will be really expensive and time consuming though. It would take 6 HB rovers and 4 say axial rock lizards to make one set of four tall rovers. The same would apply with your Grabbers. You would need to buy 2 more grabbers then find a set of the rock lizards to use for the side walls. What rims are you using? A narrower offset would help out a lot.

6 inches is the maximum height tire allowed for 2.2. With two stage foams they can work well. You will need a super stiff inner foam and then a soft outer foam for tire bite. I ran a 2.2 clod and here are some tires I made for it:

'cause hpi doesn't make a Rock Lizard, Rock Claw, Moab or a Badland.

Seriously, though, if you need a tire that tall, you're in a very small niche market, and that's not a bad price considering that it takes 10 tires to make 4 + the hours of work involved. Once you take the rest of the factors into consideration, the money saved on using Clod axles for 2.2 over Bergs or Bullys gets spent very quickly trying to make them work right.

I've never broken my clod 2.2....how many berg owners can say the same?

I tried the Clod 2.2. While I had problems with the clod holding up in my super, the 2.2 was very durable. However, I couldn't take the lack of ground clearance. There were some lines that were very difficult due to the low center. At the time, bergs were difficult to find, so it wasn't worth messing with trying to find larger tires, dealing with the bulky case, etc. Now, Bergs are readily available along with other couple other MOA axles. I moved to the Bullys and never looked back.

I'll agree with you there. I've got a 2.2 clod Pimp Cane and while it can climb ledges like nothing else, the center diffs do get hung up sometimes (DNA is working on that). I've also recently switched to Bullys.

Xtreme RC Hobbies
- 6 different hybrid tires using different sidewalls and treads.
How about a 5-7/8" tall Panther!
http://xtreme-rc-hobbies.net/store/i...hp?cPath=29_49
Get out the wallet though!

I have 5.75" Lizard-claws on my BMV. I did not buy the oversized foams and have played and played with my own foams trying to dial them in.
My problem is that with torsion chassis I need more wheel weight, so I run lead on wheel and shot in the tire.
