| Non Bias Sedona Review
Like the thread says Non Bias review. So lets start. First impressions after taking them out of the package was OMG these things are wide But in all reality they are not That much wider than the Rover or the Leopard are overall they just have a wider contact patch. I also noticed they are a little heavier than the Rover and Leopard.I did not weigh just the tire but I did weigh them after I mounted them and they are about 1.1 ounces each heavier than the Leopard and .9 heavier than the Rover. I mounted them on a set of Vanquish Products DH wheels for the front and a set of there 1.35 SLW's for the rear using Novas 2 stage foams all the way around with the addition of a Nylon 3.5x3/8 ring on the fronts with the inner foam channeled. The width of the front tires on the DH wheels was 2.35 compared to the leopard at 2.32 and the Rover at 2.30 all with the same setup. One thing I noticed when I started mounting them was how stiff the sidewall is around the bead and IMHO that's a good thing. They mounted very easy and only took a few min. to have all 4 on the truck and ready to go. A quick breakdown of my rig that I run these on today. Berg with Dual ESC's controlled by a 4Pk Total rig weight 6lb 8 ounces with the Sedonas 14.6 ounces total each front and 7 ounces each rear. The rig was a total of 4 ounces heavier than I am use to but I did not notice it that much. I did not have time to drive very far to get on any flowing rock so I went to a spot close to the house. It is a man made boulder wall about 600yards long and 8 foot wide with a ton of big ledge's and several 2-3 foot climbs and side hills. The wall consist of several different types of rock ranging from very high traction to no traction.I use this spot allot so I am very familiar with it. The tires went every where that I usually climb and made a few climbs easier than either of my other tires. After about 20 minutes of run time I started to really push the truck and from what I can tell the biggest strong point of these tires is you can drive very fast without having to worry about them doing something stupid. They never darted from side to side or took a awkward bounce that I was not expecting. This is a very predictable tire under low and heavy throttle. With my setup they side hill great with no rollover. On the ledges I must say they hook very hard and pulled the truck up with ease.If you needed to brake the tires loose you could but it took a pretty good blip of the throttle and was controllable when they broke loose. There was no loading and unloading on the ledges. One thing I did notice is that if I smacked a undercut with the rear it would bounce back a little more than I liked but I think I can tune that out with rear springs and oil. I only got a chance to run for about 45 min. before I hooked a ledge with the tires turned, when I laid into the throttle the truck hooked very hard and riped the small gear out of my hitec TI. geared servo. For today's test I must say I am very impressed. If the rain holds out I will get them out on some smooth flowing rock tomorrow and see how they do there.I am thinking on the smooth stuff they will have a little less forward bite than I am use two but with the amount of throttle these tires allow you to use predictably I think they will do fine. And with course time limits getting shorter and shorter being able to be heavy on the throttle is going to be a big plus. |

Good review Joe! I'm just wondering how these tires will do on a wheel that is LESS than 1" wide?? I'm sure foam tuning would be pretty important on a setup like that.

Personally I am a big fan of the wide wheels. I think tuning these on a skinny wheel would definitely be a pain with as wide as the contact patch is. But someone else will have to take on that task

I did not like the looks of B because it puts the angle of some of the tread going from center to the outside of the tire.On most tires I like to run the tire with the angle of the tread pulling in towards the center.I could be way off but it seems to keep the truck going straight when in the throttle spinning. No vids I can never get them to upload to the net.:? Quote:
The wider wheel seems to give more sidewall support and contact patch.

What you have found is exactly what I have found also.I love to be able to drive fast and these tires alow me to do this, with no dumb pulling off line left or right under serious wheelspeed.Glad to see your awsome review and I could not agree more
