| 5.4" tall 1.9 TSL's Sayy what?!
Sooo I like to tinker. The 1.9 Proline TSL's were too short for me, a little too narrow so I went on a mission. I bought a set of 2.2 TSL's and bought a bunch of 1.9 Proline tires... First mission... Make a cookie cutter press tool that would allow me to cut the 2.2 bead out, leave a perfect circle, and also use it to cut a perfect sidewall out of a 1.9 to glue into the 2.2. I happen to have a friend with some tools in his garage and with some of my brain, some of his, and a lathe... This is what we made. place cutter on top of bead.. hammer around the edge or use a press.. and lookie there! start to glue the centers in.. anddd donskies! Comparo to a 1.9 TSL After running the 1.9's for a while and recording my findings on the lug patterns, I took out a couple lugs where mud would not clean out. This made the tires work AMAZING. The difference was very note worthy. |

If you could make another one of those tire cutters, Id buy one in a heartbeat. Could you guys make one for 1.55 tires? Like i said, ill buy one or two if you could make for 1.55's. Awesome job btw! I forsee some 1.55 rock lox in the near future!

I'll do some digging around and see if I can find some 1.55s to cut up. A couple months back I did submit an idea to RC4wd asking them to build the centers like I cut out for just this reason. I always see guys taking 2.2's, pie cutting them to 1.9's but by then its really just wider, and a hair taller. This is soo much simpler, the tires stay perfectly round too!! I'm not in a position to mass produce the cutters, but let me do some digging on pipe measurments. |
