Default TSS Robby Gordons 2.2 with a little Steelie 1.9 extra bonus

So Cory just wanted to say I love these wheels....MUCHO!!!

I wasn't going to use the scale hubs but they made for a sweet bonus for a custom set of RC4WD 1.9 steelies with slw hubs and Locked Up RC scale acorns nuts.

I haven't seen this done yet so let me know what you think or if this is nothing new.

I prefer the plain black

ok that could be the sickest combo ive seen yet
i love the choice to go full murdered with the BLACK scale bolts wow

you gotta tell us what hubs those are. they look like old RC4wd hubs that have had the diameter lathe'd down?

wheel combo makes me really excited to see what you go with for colors for that build. been watching that one

I used SLW hubs on both. The steelies can take SLW hubs as long as you grind down the face of the hub level. If you look a SLW hub you will see what I mean. Then your hubs can be detailed any way you like. Thanks!

Nice job on the RG's Paul! But I really dig the steelies! So much so I modded my Pro10's. I had already done the the 4-40 conversion to the stock hubs using Locked Up 4-40 acorns. But seen this thread and had a set of custom TSS hubs from my 2.2 RG's that I didn't use.....so here's my version! I'm not sure what you did exactly, but on my hubs I took a reamer and opened up two holes across from each other so that the acorns would pass through, then removed the other four acorns from the wheel, made sure the hub fit flush, then remounted the wheel and tire to the truck with a standard nut and last, slide the hub on and secured it with the other four acorns I remove earlier. Wella scale goodness from RC4WD, TSS and Locked Up R/C!

PS: What kind of track width do you get with the SLW hub? 225's I assume?

That is good stuff Shon. I'm glad someone else could use the idea. I mounted them on 350 hubs just because my 225 were already on the RGs. I was really just messing around with some parts while doing a build and had idea that worked out cool. I was thinking of going about the same lines to use the stock hubs which would really give best offset for scx10 axles. But locked up has a slw hub that is even narrower then the 225. I think I'm going to get a set of those to really see what the track width could be.

The reaming if the two holes method is effective. If you use SLW hubs no reaming is required bc you put the nut on the hubs first then bolt straight up.

These little hubs really are a very nice bonus to the RGs considering no special tool and saving at least $30 on hubs. Plus they will never get lost on the trail.

Thanks for the cool product Cory.

Thanks Paul and thanks for the great idea! I may give my 225's a shot, but I think I'm going to pick up some of the RC4WD 12mm hex hubs with the integrated disc brake rotor. More scale goodness!

And I agree, great bonus Cory supplies with his wheels!

you two are killin it with the grab bag morphing of scale parts. both look steller!
i just picked up a set of those rc4wd brake rotor hex's for my rusty truggy. definatly nice pieces. and they allow use of scale hardware for the lugs that the stock "threw hole" design doesnt.

great thinking and ideas guys, very ingenious

Thanks Cory! I'm sure Paul would agree, we're just thinking outside the box.

So is it the 4-40 acorns which works with this combo?

Unfortunately, what they DO NOT allow the use of, is the C.H.U.D spacers that are made for the RC4WD Steelies... I found this out the hard way while trying to convert my wheels from pin adapters to hex? I got the +6mm cause the stock hex mounts were out of stock, only to find out they are not useable with C.H.U.D spacers cause the spacers and the hex adapters are bot threaded... Not that it matters with the RG's, but just F.Y.I. For steelie owners with C.H.U.D. Spacers...
