Any trouble mounting 1.9 rock beasts on RC4WD pro10 1.9 wheels? Do you still have to do the PVC trick or did they widen RC4WD wheels finally

Good luck! You should get these https://store.rc4wd.com/19-Proline-T...s-_p_2878.html it makes life much easier! Rc4wd should recommend these on there site if your running pits or proline tires.

Small dabs of CA glue is what I had to do with mine, the bead squeezes right out when you mount the tires. It's very tricky.

They dont work for crap. I tried it yesterday and my buddy tried this morning. They dont grab the lip. I ended up putting on my rocklocks and looking for new wheels....... Only rc4wd wheels seem to fit rc4wd tires I dropped the wheels and LOVE the tires! |

| Re: 1.9 pitbull rock beast on rc4wd pro10 wheels Don't ditch anything hebrew! We've all dealy with that. It's frusterating as hell till you realize you have to actually change sumthin-that its not just a "tough" mount. Proline sells a replacement inner ring that works great. I went with the cheaper pvc route. Works just as well. Search it up. |

Echo the above - it's the worst experience I have ever had with any tire - trying to mount pits on a rc4wd rim. I was ready to set fire to the whole thing - but it can be done with enormous levels of patience and frustration - or by getting the inserts as mentioned above.

Glad I looked here as I was having the same issue. I was starting to wonder if it was my crawler innovation foams that were causing it and finally gave up and just mounted the stock tires and foams. never had so much frustration trying to mount a tire |

Great timing on this thread. I was having the exact same problem with the same Pro10 wheels and rock beasts. I'm hoping the LHS has the beadlock rings.

Yea, the steely beadlock design is a pain as it is but with Pits or Pro Line tires....I wanted to take them out side and run them over with my Prius (I don't actually have a prius) Sent from a rock |

I bought 2'' schedule 80 PVC that is twice as thick and twice as heavy as 2'' ABS plastic pipe and going to make my own rings. RC4WD is out of stock, Underground Crawlers is out of stock too, neither will return e-mails and RC4WD has a waiting list, so screw em, I will make my own, cost me $10.20 for a 10 foot length of electrical conduit at Home Depot, going to use my chop saw and cut them a little wider than 3/4'' inch wide, and use the lathe at the local junior college to clean up the edges and square them up and cut a bevel on the inside edges, 3/16'' to 1/4'' wide so the beads will lock. Going to use RC4WD 1.9' Proten's and RC4WD 1.9'' Standard Steelies, for that old school look with some new Proline Super Swampers XL's, that are in the mail. Going to look pretty damn good on my SCX10 Honcho Truggy and SCX10 Jeep Rubicon that I'm running stock Wraith shocks on, I got plenty of ground clearance now.

I just decided to mount the RB's on a set of Axial 1.9 inch 8 hole wheels with the external rings. They mounted up fine and look great. I'll save the Pro 10's for some other tire.

I want to know how in the hell do mount the them, to 1.9'' Proten's and 1.9'' Standard Steelies, gave up on the Standard Steelies, and went with a set of 1.9'' Super Shafty Aluminum Dog Dish rims I Won on here, For Free, For Free, and I tried multiply times to mount them with the stock foams, not impossible, but not happening for me, So I then tried them with no foams, nope the bead kept coming out, then it hit, I used the foams from the 1.9'' Flat Irons I'm changing out, the Flat Iron foams are wide enough to hold the bead evenly, so I could mount them up, So I mounted one of each using the beadlock rings that came with the rims. going to buy some Double Deuce foams and get them weighed and mounted up.

I got my C.I. foams, and tried to mount them on the Proten's and the cheap 2MM screws stripped out before you get them tighten up evenly to put the shorter screws in, so went with 1.9'' Dog Dishes instead cause they use 3mm screws and they evenly tighten up with 3 ounces of weight in them, they look good to

AMEN!!! I was hoping I wasn't the only one! (Sorry to revive an old thread, but I had to...) I'm using Pitbull tires exclusively on all my trucks (1 Wraith, 1 SCX10, 1 Trail Finder 2, and 2 newly started "you-builds") because I've really found whether its the Rock Beast or the Growler, They are simply the best performing scale tire. (IMO) However, It has been an absolute Nightmare trying to mount any of them to RC4WD wheels. I tried the steelies, and the Screws were too short to squeeze the bead without stripping. The Mickey Thompson Internal beadlocks? Forget it. Now I just tried the Raceline Monsters, and I guess I just haven't learned. Cant get them to squeeze onto the Pitbull Rock Beast bead. I'm Pulling my F----ing hair out on this, because I now have 5 (yes five) sets of RC4WD Wheels I cannot use. I did manage to mount one set of 1.9 Steelies to their Rock Crusher X/T Tires, (1.9) but, (I hesitate to say they are crap, but....) Those tires are way too stiff. They are a great sticky compound, but they are too thick so they are stiff. The only way I've gotten even half way decent Performance out of them was to run them without foams on un-vented wheels. I've had success with one wheel from them with Pitbull Tires - The 1.55 "VOID" mounted to the pit growlers pretty nice. whew! That being said, I really want to keep my Raceline wheels cause I like them and they are really nice, but does anyone know if the inserts will help getting the pits mounted? I'm really getting tired of listing RC4WD stuff on ebay, just so some other poor sap has to deal with it. Last edited by tomvaillencourt; 12-20-2014 at 04:44 AM. |

If you have patience they will mount fine. I run the Pits with pro 10's on one of my scx's and they hold the bead perfect. My biggest tip (that I picked up from RokOut) take the end of a stock axle with a wheel hex, a couple of longer hex bolts to help with lining up, and pull all of the wheel parts together with the wheel nut. After its together add all of your bolts and you are done, super easy. In this pic all wheel parts are stock (no special rings) and CI lil' nova foams. |
