Default Q: Tungsten barrels in foams?

Current setup consist of Locked Up 1.9's, CI lil nova's closed cell, and some Pit Bull's.

Question portion. I need to add some front end weight to my truck, naturally. I need about 3 oz per front wheel. I could run out and buy some sticky lead like all the cool kids, but then again, I have left over tungsten barrels from my old comp truck. So can I "clearance" the foams and run tungsten barrel's taped to the wheels, or should I stick to the tried and true lead option?

All thoughts, opinions, and comments are welcomed in this discussion.

Would the stick on lead weight be sprung or unsprung?

Maybe we are talking about spare tires mounted on the front.....

All unsprung inside the wheels.

It's lead vs tungsten wheel weights.

What weighs more, 1lb of feathers, or 1lb of lead? Run what you've got.

Kind of where my head was at, but wasn't sure if cutting the closed cell foams for those barrels would have some weird ill effects on performance.

That's why I asked about the location.

Don't put the weight in ur foams instead figure out a way to put it down low where you need it like on ur knuckles or on ur axle. U don't want that weight spinning

I've already maxed out all of those locations. I agree that spinning weight is bad, but it's the only low spot left to add weight and still meet class 2 rules

If you are using VP style hub adaptors, go get some split collars that have the same ID as the OD of the adaptors. Then attach them around the hub and tighten. This will give you the weight you want, look like a brake drum (points) and keep the inertia from the rotating mass to the minimum.

The benefit of the tungsten over lead is you won't be poisoning our little critter friends if they some how come out.

I still run weight in my wheels but what do I know. Not like I ever compete in any comps. Maybe that's why my rigs don't handle worth a crap.

Sounds like you need to look at your suspension and placement of items on your truck more than adding band-aid weights up front. I haven't ran wheel weights or extra chassis weights on rigs since comp crawling days. Not trying to be rude.

You're not being rude at all. I used to run as light as possible with comp rigs too. The problem is I can't fix the weight placement any further on this truck without dropping some coin, which is a little out of the question right now. So until I can afford to redo the whole body situation, I need a temp fix to not only lower CoG height, but also move weight forward. Trying to find an Axial plastic flatbed, because that would solve my issues, but no such luck finding one on the cheap yet.

A good light weight bed solution is the Tamiya Unimog bed. Post up in the wanted section I bet someone has one laying around they cut off a body. I scored three of them that way.

How long do you reckon those fidget spinners will last before they seize up?
