Default J Concepts Scorpio Review

Here is a little something I pulled together. Sorta a long read, but might help you fall asleep if you're up late one night!

Awesome write up!!! Thank you for putting the time in on that.

Great descriptions and breakdowns of what the tires were doing in the certain terrain sections and how your rig responded.

That looks like an awesome test and tune/shakedown area along with incredible scenery.

Thanks again! I enjoyed it.

Duratrax Deep Woods is up next. A surprisingly good tire at a very nice price.

I had to tweak the page name and it broke the link.

Deep Woods are awesome tires. Stock foams are way too soft but throw some CI foams in them and you’ll be happy.

My experience with deep woods have been ok. They seem to do good in loose dirt/ sand, but the carcass is so soft and flexible that the lugs fold back when looking for traction on hard surfaces.

Getting the first few sessions done now on the Deep Woods, but we have quite a bit still to test. Update you guys when it's done.

As these appear to be 'directional', I'm sure I'm not the only one who's "curious" as to what 'directionsc work best (as there's 4 possible "configurations" - front & rear can reach be 'forward', or 'backwards'). Shay, if you happen to have them, how do these compare to the Hyrax & Landmines tires?

Thanks for the support guys.! Indeed the tread is directional, and I have a few ideas in my mind in regards to that, but for the main testing, I will run them directional as initially designed in the tread. Once I feel I've squeezed all the info from them in factory setup, I'll start tweaking. I've seen quite a few drivers reversing the tires, and there could be a gain from that, but I have not tried that yet. Later in the testing process I will be adjusting and tweaking the tread in stages, looking for any improvement.

I spent two hours working on side-hill testing last weekend, and it was interesting. Of course foams are critical for performance, but I'm just not going to get around testing all the possible foam configurations. I'll do my best to use different high-quality foams and compare results.

I have a long list of tires in the schedule for testing, and I'll bounce around from company to company. I'll also test out some of the cheaper off-brand versions as well and see if there is a real performance difference. Hyrax are up soon, as well as Landmine. I can't say for now as to how they will stack up, but I will elevate both of those so I can get to them soon and get you some info.
