Default Pit Bull Rock Beast vs Pro-line Hyrax

I'm looking for the better tire that would be used on the trail and in mud, but primarily for rock crawling.

I would love some feedback. I'm sure many people have their favorites, but these two seem to be the best for the rocks base on what I've read.

Most of my local crawler fans loved their Hyrax, but I contained and always happy with my Rock beast II. However the rock beast not very good in mud condition, they always easily stick with mud.

I wonder how much mud I'll get into...

I like the fact that the rock beast are more scale looking, but I'm sold on performance.

I don't own these myself, but my buddies run both of them. Seems that Hyrax is better overall. And if you consider the price as well, Hyrax is a killer!

Hyrax have better overall performance at half the price. Add in Proline dual stage foams for the ultimate tire.

I'm a reluctant Hyrax 4.75 user. I much prefer how the Rock Beast XLs look since their tread is more similar to the Toyos I run on my real truck. The Hyrax just doesn't look as cool in my opinion. However, the performance is really good, so despite my reluctance, I've been running them more than the Rock Beast XLs. That's probably the true testament.

This doesn't seem to be the case for the Class 1 Hyrax tires that I run on my Carisma Coyote. Their smaller size makes them look more scale to me and since they also perform really well it's not even a discussion when it comes to what tire I want to run on that truck.

I really like the look of those Hyrax, do you know if they have the same problems getting a good bead as I've read about the Pro-Line TSL's? I REALLY like the way the TSL's look. I'm hunting for some wheels for my sons Wraith.

I run both, and have swapped them mid-crawl between SCX10 and Vaterra vehicles...Hyrax FTW! Far superior on incline and off-camber.

Proline beads are different. They are thicker and it takes work to get them mounted on some wheels. I think the 2.2 TSL XLs are the only ones that are different than that. Get a good wheel and they'll mount fine.

I don't know, but you won't be disappointed with the Proline foams IMO. They're made for the tires.

What was happening to cause them to shred?

Wouldn't the pit bull pbx a/t be more of a comparison than the rock beast? I really like the looks of the pbx tires. I've owned the rock beast in 2.2 and they were great tires but haven't used the hyrax or pbx

In the interest of gaining a little more portal clearance on my TRX-4, I remounted my Hyraxes onto Axial 8-holes. The Proline beadlocks were just scraping. However, I have only run it 3 times since so I can't speak to how well they'll hold in the long run. The thicker beads didn't cause too many issues during the mount process.

I immediately replaced the stock foams with some CI ones that I had recently purchased, but after using them in other tires I can say that I'm a bit impressed. May not have been the best option for the heavy TRX-4, but in lighter rigs they do a good job.

No, the Hyrax sidewalls are not thin. Whatever tore your Hyrax certainly would have torn any other good tires.

Proline tires hold up longer than any other brand in my experience unless you want to talk about hard tires like Axial R35 and harder.

That's because they are scale, designed after the 1:1 pit bull rocker.
