Default ultimate wheel, tire, and foam setup

msd top gun with kreepy krawler foams losi rock claws? Is this a good overall set up for backyard bashing or am i wasting my money? also, what offset on the msd? Do I need the wheels specific to the AX10 or can I use the offset wheels?

That is a great setup on a crawler, it has proven to work very well for a comp rig as well as a just a backyard basher. The offset on the standard wheels is 0, so you will have a wider track width. The measurement from outside of the tire to outside of tire. With the Axial offset MSD beadlocks, you will narrow your track width by about 3/4" overall. So, if you are not going to run it as a comp rig, you may not need to worry about offset so much.

Let me know if I can help you at all.

Thanks

i prefer a wider setup but I am a newbie at crawling so i don't know how width affects the truck, I always thought wider was better. what is the overall difference in width between the AX10 offset and the standard wheels?

That is funny!!! At least you saw your fault. The set up you mentioned is my exact set up on my comp rig and quite a few others here in CO!! I can't complain at all!

If you're just bashing as in going fast and jumping and not more of a crawling bashing I wouldn't get an aluminum wheel. Alloy wheels are pretty heavy and put a lot of extra stress on your drivetrain. If you are doing more crawling then I would highly recommend the msd wheels. They are a perfect weight, width, and strength for crawling. I personally run the MSD's, Kreepy foams, and Losi claws and I absolutely love the combo for a comp crawler.

i am geared pretty low with a 65t motor so I don't have any plans of jumping. I only meant bashing as opposed to competition. I bash on my Savage and thrash on my new e-maxx!

That combo will work great for a crawler, with no extra weight needed.

I swapped out my Axial Lizards for the Losi Claws today and can truly say they bite a lot more than the stock Axial's. Iv'e got a small course setup in the garage so I could hit the same exact lines and do my own lil' side x side comparo. I used the same foams for both tire sets too so it was an even bias. LOSI CLAWS!!!!!!!!

Are the wide memory foams too wide for Losi Claws? I missed the boat ordering these foams and the narrow Kreepy's are out of stock everywhere!! As recommended I plan to run red up front & pink in back.

I run the narrows, I think the wides will work, but may pooch the sidewall a bit.

The Aces run 2.25 wide and I have had no issue with them. They keep the sidewalls from collapsing on the claws.

I run Proline Moab Masher hybrids and love them. One of these days I will get the MSD wheels.

In the MSD's I don't think they run any weight.

In my narrowed Axial BL's I run 4 ozs of lead stick ons in the fronts and 2oz's on the rears.

I run mine with Kreepy Red wides in front, and wide pinks in back. No weight at all.
