| Thanks Sacco, I cant seem to bring my self around to spend the dough on that stuff. Im thinking about getting a oxy-mapp setup and use the Homedepot brazing rod (blue coating) on my steel stock and for shock mounts. I tried mapp gas on it and just couldnt get the base metal hot emough.

I wouldnt waste your money on the Oxy setup, just regular mapp gas will work fine. you would only benefit from using oxygen if your going to use solid rod or real thick steel as it will help heat it up quicker. the brazing rods w/o the white covering of flux that Home Depot sells works well, ive used it when ive run out of the Harris wire. |

imo the harris safty silv is the best way to even with the price being what it is and if you take your time 1 ounce will go along way and you will have less problems with it than useing other brazing rod just my opinion

I think you'll find that going with an oxy-mapp set-up, the money you save on brazing rod will be eaten up by the money you end up spending on oxygen tanks. My two cents. | ||

I use oxy propylene. Here is a link to the setup which I bought at Home Depot. It will get up to 3600 degrees and it works like a champ. http://www.bernzomatic.com/products/...aspx?xmid=6985 |

I use Mapp gas & silver solder. But I'm ready to step up to an oxy-acetylene set-up. |
