3/16" is the most common size. Just head for your local auto parts store. 60" pieces should be around $5-6.

3/16" brake line, they'll ask standard or metric, take whatever they have since you don't use the fittings anyhow. I get the non coated (silver) since the coated line is a pia to clean off and the non coated is a little stronger. You can also order tube from http://www.mcmaster.com/.

Watch some brazing tutorials and do some reading, its not to bad to do. Luckily i have a summitracing here locally aso i can get 3/16th brake line cheap and in quantity. Then you just need at least a map-gas torch. and finally some solder, 45% or more silver solder is the easiest and cleanest that i have worked with, but it is not cheap, you will also need flux. I got 3oz of 45% solder for $68 at a welding store here, Flux was like $4 for a big tub. Then the Map torch from home depot was $50ish then you have the tubing. When u first get into it expect to spend $120+, but after that is u use it correctly the solder goes a long ways, i have done my JK bumper and sliders, a complete Bronco chassis and a chassis and bumpers for a yota and have a lil bit left about .5-1oz left of my solder and im on my 2nd bottle of gas. So once u have it you mostly just need more brake line. |
