Default rusty equipment

my drill press, band saw, and sander are in my shop, the shop is insulated... but no heat, and some moisture gets in.. .i havent used my drill press for a couple weeks, and i went to use it today, and the table has a light coating of rust...
i do keep my equipment covered... but is there an oil i should but on the exposed metal, or can i spray paint it?

I use red ATF to cover exposed metal surfaces. It has an additive that allows the fluid to cling and stay put. I've had engine blocks stored for 4 years in a storage locker with no rust.

Use some WD-40 and scotch brite to remove the surface rust. I spray WD on the inside of my Kitamura everyday when I wash it out. No rust on the table or fixtures i sometimes leave in the machine .
