So... Could you use a brushless esc to fire the coils on a Gauss rifle? |

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Get the phases to fire in the right order and you've got your self a gauss rifle. I think you'll need more than one esc though. Three coils doesn't seem like it would give enough acceleration. Maybe you could run several coils on each phase and sequence them to get away with one esc.

Syncing multiple escs would likely be very problematic. Running multiple sections of coils off of each phase of a single esc would be easier, but might not give the oomph needed. |

I'm sure it could be made to work. It may require some mosfet amplification if the ESC can't fire the coils directly, but if you're going to go that route, it seems like a simpler controller (like an Arduino) could be just as effective for a lot less work.
