You know it! There is nothing like listening to records on an old stereo with crate speakers.

Keep 'em coming. I think I'm not the only one getting ideas and inspiration from this post.

The room is slightly smaller than my last one so Some of the unbuilt kits will live on a shelf next to my room.

There’s no LHS so I tend to buy in bulk when I get to one or buy online.

Workbench/work area

I have is the cheapest L shaped desk, got it for $100 on Amazon, stuffed in the corner of my room. Also have a standup organizer packed to the gills full of stuff. I utilize my closet top shelf for bigger stuff. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...df6a18e0c5.jpg and have a 2x4 with nails for holding tools.

Re: Workbench/work area

No pictures of my setup, I work out of the garage on a very large bench/area. Pretty much the one car part of our 3 car garage. Upside is i can make a mess painting/grinding/welding etc, downside is Florida heat.

I do have observations on the messy thing though - I tend to make a huge mess as I 'thrash' through a project...the way my brain works I just go at it like a mad scientist and can't be bothered with putting things back when the creative juices are flowing. But I ALWAYS clean back up, and usually better than when I started. I've noticed a clean area between mini-projects is satisfying, you have better inventory control and don't end up buying crap you already have, and for me it tends to add to the creative side (just seeing everything neatly stacked makes me daydream about new mods instead of worrying about cleaning).

As far as my tools and what not it's just a very large collection of random collections/things I've added. I'm new to RC but not new to tinkering, vehicles, or the scale world. So I have picked up everything I need to solder, braze, weld, measure, cut, grind, buff etc....

What has caught my attention lately is the printing, I think that is the future of this and many other hobbies. It's already taking over in the scale model world and replacing resin casting. I want to get on board and have plans in the works for a printer around Christmas time if I can get my act together.

Sorry about the book length post, very interesting topic for me. Cheers

Re: Workbench/work area

I have a bench in my garage that is about 6.5 feet by 3 feet and a shelving unit on the wall that I built next to it for my rigs. It goes from neat freak clean to messy and back to neat freak clean.....all depending on what I am doing build wise. Usually super clean when I get a new rig :lmao:

I store the lesser used tools and random items in small plastic storage containers that I found at Target. I put a magnetic strip on the back of my bench for the always in use tools, which has been quite handy.

Installed a fluorescent light overhead for lighting and a small wireless speaker to listen to some tunes while wrenching.

Its the only place in the house that is MINE :lmao:

Looking through this thread made me realize.....need to clean up my space!

Me too! My desk is ALWAYS messy it seems! I can’t stand working in a messy area, because that’s how stuff gets lost.

Great idea with a magnetic strip, I imagine it looks a lot cleaner than my nailed up 2x4, lmao. Speaker is always needed as well.

Your 2x4 tool holder is cool. Great idea! If it works for you, keep it. I use a store bought tiered tool holder ($15, very small foot print) for all my drivers because my work space is only 2' x 4'.

Spent the better part of the weekend reorganizing the hobby bench in the garage. Added some shelves above the bench and moved all of my non hobby tools to another part of the garage. Bench is now dedicated to my hobbies, mostly my crawlers.
