I usually have taken the kit supplied tools, free! Maybe a multitool like a leatherman. Take them, a wheel nut, a couple of zip ties and you should be good! Take a small magnet too to keep everything in one lump in your pocket
I glued my magnet to the remote and the tools/bodyclips stick to it.

I take my Traxxas tool kit and I throw a cross wrench in there as well. I put a bunch of stuff In my back pack, like zip ties, pliers, etc.

When I go out, and am not near my truck, it is a day pack, wheel wrench, SAE and metric Allen wrench sets from Home Depot, screw drivers, needle nose pliers and needle nose vise grips, a plastic tray to put the stuff I removed into, misc. extra hardware and fasteners, zip ties, electrical tape. Shock oil. Extra batteries for the tx and rigs. Bottle of water to hopefully put out a fire if my rig went up in smoke. Sometimes even extra wheels and tires. I guess I’ve been to too many Baja off-road races.... redundancy. Oh yeah, add the tripods and cameras strapped to my back pack.... Carrying the Bomber and Capra while hiking to my favorite spot. Workout, yes, able to perform quad bypass on the trail, yes for the most part. Always 2 rigs, so if one fails. Heck, I’ve even packed the small Rigid cordless impact gun and tips a couple times. It would suck to get out, only to have a mechanical issue DNF your day prematurely, especially if it were a commute to get there.

I keep a set of kit Allen wrenches, wheel wrench, and some spare nuts and bolts in an old chew can. Also I carry a multi tool on my belt. So far it’s been more than enough for trail repairs.
