Which Tekin RX8 is the best fit for the summit? I noticed there are several variations? Im looking at this because it doesn't cog for low speed crawling and will have higher top speed? is this correct? PS - The other options would be the Dewalt motor - will this increase speed? |

What are you running for batteries? 4s, 6s?

The batteries will determine weather you use a low kv motor for 6s or a high kv motor for 4s. Do you already have a good lipo charger? Will it charge 6s lipo? Some won't. I think the T8 1550 truggy motor on 6s would be pretty kick ass in a Summit. |

Right now I have a Duratrax Onyx charger but I would be willing to buy any charger as long as it can be plugged into a wall outlet. I dont want one of those chargers that need a power supply. Does that Make a differece? |

Usually the wall chargers dont supply the same amount of power. Depending on the charger it would still be possible to charge a 6s lipo, just may take longer. As far as which system, if you are looking for top speeds get the 2000kv motor if you are looking for torque and slow crawling then go for the 1900 or 1700kv ( I forgot the exact numbers) but make certain it is the longer truggy motor Any lower than 1700 then 6s would probably be a must to get any real performance. Any higher than 2200kv and you may struggle with large tires. But it also depends on your gearing as well. To " summ - it" up : 1) get the longer torquier truggy motor 2) if you want speed go 2000 or 2200kv on 4s 3) if you are making a dedicated crawler go 1900 or 1700 on 4s 6s lipo is really for the erevo. 6s lipo in the summit is great for breaking parts. But the tekin system is so strong any motor size will make you happy. Last edited by noir522; 02-05-2013 at 11:39 AM. |

Whats a good blend of speed and power? Im assuming since its brushless it will already be fast so i guess i would lean towards crawling? What woukd be the diff in speed and crawling between the motors listed? |

I'd go 1900kv, on a pair of 2s to give 4s. Good torque, top speed, and no fancy charger needed. I run a cheap 1900kv this way and it kicks ass! |

Maybe this picture will help you. As noir suggested look at the Truggy motors. |

I'd say go 1700kv, cos larger motor, and 4s, cos your not racing and it will save the expense of a pricey charger.

Hitec makes good wall chargers. I have a 4x Hitec charger. Charges four batts at one time, max is 6 amp. I also have a power source Bantam, charges a single battery but at 10 amps. I like the Hitec more, easy to manage and transport. |

I like the crawling ability of my Summit too. Just going to LiPos gave it more top speed because of the higher voltage. You should try with just those SPC batteries you listed and see if you even want more speed. If so, I would go with a 1900-2000kv motor. Anything with a lower kv rating will be close to stock speed and anything above that starts to get pretty fast and you risk breaking parts. I have an Onyx charger also. A 245 that does two LiPos at one time and it plugs into the wall. Charges both batteries at 5 amps each. In the case of those 8200mAh SPC batteries, it would take about 1 hour and 45 minutes to charge both at the same time from dead. Might not be fast but you won't damage the batteries and they will last a long time. Sean |

Thanks Sean, So would you go with the 1900kv or 2000kv? I would like the Summit to be faster but I dont want to break stuff. FYI im only using 3000mah nimh right now. |
