Default Torsion Maxx

Well, since the Mantis Maxx is on its way out of the state, time to build up another Super crawler. I had more maxx axles around, so I figured why not give a try to making a torsion stick and clod-like Maxx.

I have to fix up the steering and put in rear steer. Unfortunately, my DX6 didn't make it in today though. With some luck it will be tomorrow. Otherwise I'm going to have to make some changes.

when buliding anything: if it starts to look like something else already made- maybe that is what you should have used in the first place. looks like a clod to me- why go through all the trouble?

I will give you an A for effort though

Why go thru the trouble because he wanted a Maxx. I like it! Was thinking about putting double tranny/motor on my torsion Maxx. Nice build. How does it crawl.

Lets see, more diff clearance than a clod and parts I had laying around. Sounds like a winner to me.

Actually, I haven't had a chance to run it yet, might do some tonight.

Well, that sure pegs the different-o-meter

I like it, good combination of ideas there, along with a few fresh ones. Let's see it on the rocks!

Looks very similar to the stick maxx I built last year Yours looks much more refined.
time to post it up

It will crawl Killer!!! I took mine apart because I needed the gearboxes. Your rig might make things too easy. I know mine did.

John, it is funny. I had the idea in my head and planned out. I had already ordered the trannies for it and then I ran across your build up because I couldn't imagine that someone else didn't do it already.

If I can figure out how to get the controls dialed in, I'm expecting it will be pretty good too. I can't get in 40 series mashers by this weekend, but they're planned for this truck. I want to see if I can get a "maxx" that will give the clods a run for their money. hehe

The two issues I had with mine were the width (revo conversion) and the steering linkages being flexy. I never got mine dialed in like I wanted. I still have it sitting around though, and have been toying with putting gearboxes back on.

One of the best parts about maxx trucks is with revo hubs and a little grinding/sanding, the turning radius is ridiculously small compared to a clod.

He runs 2 ESC's so he can control each motor independently, Fr or R dig.

That C channel bends way too easy. I probably need to do some stronger angle or bigger C channel. I ran it today at our comp and it can fully flex 90 degrees and pull back around on its own.

Running the DX6 was the hardest part about the truck though. Man that is hell trying to smoothly steer and power that truck.

Edit: Updated with a video showing how it works. Sorry about how bright the video is, learning to use a new video camera as well.

Right click, save as, don't click it and stream it: here

any video that starts out with the line "did you bring a fire extingusher" is bound to be a keeper.
