| fresh 07' maxx torsion build writeup
well i'll start off and say i love the way i've seen sticks perform, so i figured i'd do one as well since i just had the stuff laying around. i need some suggestinong though plz, anyone had any problems with this setup?? how does it do. I know i got the backbone perdy low but it's still for 5.25 clearance and 3.25 under axles, 17.75" wb, kinda making it for a mud bogger and really want to crawl boulders like nothing. heres the pics first i got an idea of wat would works: http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=169 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=170 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=171 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=172 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=173 then i figured how i would mount to the axle for best cog: http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=174 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=175 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=176 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=177 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=178 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=180 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=181 heres a few flew shots, it seems to work really well, and i think i'm going to like it. http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=183 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=184 lmk wat yall think, oh and as for electronics i got a tq3 w/prop. rear steer mod, already got my mtroniks 100% waterproof viper r 15, gettin an custom 8 cell 3600 pack, two mg945's, komodo dragon 19t with gd600 |

looks real good..you should just get a 55t lathe motor or something like that instead of the 19t and gd600...jm$.02...but then i just realised you want to do a mud bogger so maybe the 19 and gd600 is the way to go..what body you gunna run..now just get it done..

yea i'm hoping the 19t will put out some good wheel speed on 8 cells, if not i may go brushless, heres the body i'm running: i plan on having it done by may 12, my bday i will follow along with the write up, next couple days i'll be showing how to convert tmaxx tranny and make it crawler ready, how to mount a gd600 on a tmaxx tranny, making servo mounts for cheap. http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=100 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=162 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=165 heres servo mts i made and the lock out tower, i made it out of some alum sheet and its real thin so it bends slightly when the trucks dropped for a couple feet and acts as a stiff leaf spring , perdy kwl. |

do you think the backbone is too low for a stick?? it still has 5.25 under it though, not as much as a regular stick but it'll have a lot better cog i would think.

well got my motor on my tranny today, just kinda set on there to check clearances n such, me being so cheap i just used so angle i had laying around. i'll be using a new komodo dragon 19t spec motor on a gd600 2.5 ratio http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=187 you can see here how i locked the tranny in first, jus put some bolts through it and glue her up. http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=189 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=190 next i figured where i could fasten it to keep clear of the gears inside. then drilled my mounting holes. http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=191 and waaalaaaa! cheap quick way to mount your gd600 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=193 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=194 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=195 and look how low that motor is to the tranny and chassis http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...to&PhotoID=196 |

its some regular angle from home depot, 3/4 x 3/4x1/8 alum. it seems to work real well, it'll flew to about 80 degree then the rear tire srarts to liftup, imo thats about perfect. also i jus got my tranny mounted with motor n all and it looks gr8, killer cog, i'll post pics in a bit.

| http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...oto&PhotoID=26 http://groups.msn.com/crawlers/shoeb...oto&PhotoID=36 i got that body i'm thinkin of running, a stock tmaxx body painted metallic blue which i'll run for muddin, and a really tore up f350 body i'll run for when i feel like going crawling off a cliff. i'm thinkin of also puttin links front the a-arms to the backbone......figure it'll make it a lil more rigid, but it wont move right now unless u really slam it. idk we'll see i guess......... |

pretty killer bro, I would reccomend cutting slits for the driveshafts so they dont smack the back bone.

yea i was thinkin of doing that, cuz they rub a tiny bit when at about 80* but it doesnt rub so hard that it'll effect anything. them trac bars made a world of difference too, made it overall a lot more rigid and it doesnt flew quite as much as 80 but it'll be fine i think.

pm sent ian also i was thinking of doing front dig instead of rear steer, since i can use the dig to turn sharper and have diff as well. but i've searched on here and havent found out how to do front dig with revo shafts or internally. can anyone help. i've seen the socket method on pede shafts but not revos. |
