| SMC 3s lipo
I always run these 3s's: True Spec Premium 11.1V 5200mAh 112 Amps/90C I'll run a pack for 2, maybe close to 2.5 hours. have never had a cut-off. What maximum runtime should I expect? I just mainly trail ride. Nothing too extreme. Also, is there a better and cheaper battery out there? Thanks! |

That battery has decent specs but it looks HUGE! I wouldn't say there is a better battery but you can try light 2s batteries, or a smaller 3s if you wanted. 5000mah 3s batteries seem to be taking me close to 2hrs. I've had my Venom 5000mah 35C battery down to 11.3v a few times but never cutoff. With that battery you posted I'm sure you'd have even more juice left after the same run.. |

I only have some old NIMH 3000mahs laying around so far and I have not yet run one dead yet in the TRX-4, I am guessing I have easily gotten 1 hour run times off of them and still only putting 2/3 of their charge back in. This truck in stock form just running around on trails at less then breakneck speed seems to just sip power. I was thinking of getting a high capacity lipo for it... but I am thinking I might end up needing charged long before the battery does... Last edited by clm; 07-28-2017 at 04:48 AM. |

I have one of these G force 4000mah 3S packs that I have run in my truck with a Castle 2280 motor for 3 hours on the trail. When I got back to the car, the battery was only at 3.8V/cell. GForce Elite Series 30C 4000mAh 3S 11.1V LiPO (T-Connector) | Value Hobby The Helios 3500mah 3S pack is my favorite though; small and light for the capacity. Its about the size of an average 2200mah 3S pack but gives a lot more run time. 3500-3s-30c |

Nothing beats a $18 Turnigy Blue 30C 2200 for affordability and power. They have low IR, last ages, have enough grunt for a Yeti and you can buy enough for a day out. I went crawling with some blokes last night and my TRX4 used up two 3300 3S packs in under 2 hours crawling around in low gear. My son running our SCX10 used up two 2200 packs with the same driving also in low gear. |

It fits in "snug" but I had to remove that stock Traxxas battery hold down and use Velcro straps. When that batter is in......it isn't moving. I trail in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina. So I can go in the mountains 3 hours, then have out easily. I carry two of these 3s's and an ecopower 2s just in case. I guess I'll stick with SMC since they've been so good for me. | |
