| Our TRX4s
My son and I both have silver TRX4s. Mine has a Carisma Beetle body on it and is showing it's age. (The body that is). Its evolution and build thread are in my signature. His still has the stock Defender body. He's debating a bunch of options as to what he wants to do to it (i.e. what he wants me to do to it as he's 11). He's leaning towards a pickup style Defender. I got some new wheels for mine, RC4WD Tango Down wheels with Mud Plugger tires. I finally reconnected the lights too. I took off the G-Made wheels and painted them white and put them on my son's truck with some new Hyrax tires. I also painted my Defender body with a white roof and flat khaki body. I've ordered 3D printed door handles, fender vents and a gas cap to replace the stickers I tore off before I painted it. This body now sits on his truck as well as we ponder what to do to his. Here are some pics. New wheels. Skinny tires. Lights work. New Defender, old look. Two TRX4s. Cheers eh, Todd |

That looks sharp in beige and white. Growing up in the UK I saw a lot of the Series 2 (the model before the Defender) Land Rovers in two-tone paint jobs like that.

They both look very good. I really want to get a new body for mine, but will get wheels/foam inserts first and then bumpers most likely.

Thanks! Quote:
You might want to get a body first and then get a bumper and wheels to match it. Last edited by Tossedman; 08-22-2017 at 08:41 AM. | |

Here's Noah's TRX4 climbing the bank of the Little Red Deer River. It's steeper than it looks with a six to eight inch lip at the top. We're saving the khaki Defender body until we get all the extra 3D printed pieces for it. |

I really like the paint job on the trx4 you did It's almost military color you could go that route with a few little details if you wanted |

Yup, tire's now fixed. Probably won't go with the military theme on this one. My 11 year old is calling the shots here.

Here they are in the wild. Lights work. Noah just got a new bumper for his Defender, will post pics tomorrow. Have to admit that I traded traction for looks when I went with the skinny tires but I'm loving the challenge. |

Noah added a new front bumper to his Defender along with some lights on the bumper. He also found the light bucket set on his old beat up Axial SCX10 Jeep Wrangler G6 Falken body. We drilled a couple of holes in the roll bar and using a couple of 3mm spacers it fit right in. Had to drill a couple of holes in the roof for the rear supports as well. Next is to hook up all the bulbs. The Axial Light Bucket set. Here's some waterproof luggage I made for my roof rack. Weighs all of 10 grams. It's a piece of blue foam insulation wrapped in the wrist part of an XXL black Nitrile glove all held together by three 2mm hair elastics. I'll eventually glue it all together. |

Which tires do you think look better? BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 1.9” G8 Rock Terrain Truck Tires? or Proline Hyrax 1.9" G8 Rock Terrain Truck Tires |

Thank you sir. We're going to try the K02s to see how they work out. They're a little narrower and a little smaller in diameter and my son wants to give them a try. |

May I ask the wheelbase on the bug shell? Is it bang on for the trx? My daughter would love this shell on her scx10 dingo but unsure of wheelbase differences etc. Thanks for your time in advance. Ps, looks as awesome out on the trail as it does parked up. |

I've got the wheelbase set to 315mm. Used shorter links and cut the frame rails. I had it on an SCX10 chassis before this one. Check out my build thread here. Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build |

The Carisma Beetle body is great. It looks right at home on this truck. I really like it!

Thanks! The Bug definitely out climbs the Defender. Body is a ton lighter. Wheel base is a bit shorter which allows it to get around the tight corners at our local RC park a bit easier as well. More stable all around. Best way to make the TRX4 crawl better is to take off all that weight up high. Defender has better tires though, more grip. I traded traction for looks on the Bug. Put an SSD bumper on the Defender. Looks great! Weathered the jack and added a Defender badge at the back. Still need to paint the gas cans. If you look behind the jack you can see another Defender D110 badge. Hard to see but we know it's there. Snorkel details from Knight Customs. Fender vents and new emblem on the front. Knight Customs door handles. Lots of stuff on the roof to make it more top heavy. Ordered the SSD rear bumper. That's next. After that, who knows. Maybe some performance upgrades. Other than a stripped servo horn though, nothing has broken. Not going to replace anything until we have to. Last edited by Tossedman; 06-17-2018 at 07:55 AM. |
