Default ascender axles + castle 3800kv = ?

Has anyone ran a castle 3800 through ascender axles with any luck? The axles have the hd pinions. The transmission should be fine as it is out of a wraith with metal gears. Any input would be appreciated.

I have a friend with the 3800. Even with the smallest pinion (11T), the low speed start-up is not smooth. Not really a crawler.
Power wise, if you are throttle heavy, that motor has enough power to grenade the axle!

Not really a good motor for a scale truck. I tried a Traxxas VXL motor (3500kv) in my FULLY built Wraith, and I think I broke something every time out. Try a sensored motor if you want that wheel speed. It will be a lot smoother on the low speed stuff. Holmes Hobby now has a sensored waterproof setup, I believe.

I have one of those motors. I've run it in a Wraith, a Blitz, and currently it's in a Traxxas Rustler.

Seeing as how it has broken drivetrain parts in every rig it been installed in, I'm going to guess you will have similar results.

Yeah, it really sucks at "low speed startup", since the slowest it wants to go is 3mph it just kinda lurches away.

I'd suggest something a little more sane, such as a 17.5-21.5 brushless or perhaps a 35-55 turn brushed motor.

Im running a 5.7kv castle motor in my ascender right now. I get a couple runs out of it before my front cvs start breaking but the rest has held up fine. Hd driveshaft would be a good idea if you don't already have them
