Default Ridiculous!

I purchased a Twin Hammers 3 weeks ago because my son wanted me to RC with him and his friends. What a disappointment!
It is no wonder hobby shops stay in business.

1st battery charge - Spur gear
2nd battery charge - Transmission issues (fixed under warranty)
3rd battery charge - Spur gear (installed by pro)
4th battery charge - Spur gear (installed by pro)
5th battery charge - Bad servo
6th battery charge - Drive shaft fell (factory didn't tighten screws on pinion)
7th battery charge - What's next?

Why not build the car with good parts and charge more money?

Must not be a pro if spur keeps going I am around 40 packs and the only thing I have changed is the shock oil because it leaks.

And anytime you get a fresh RTR I always recommend and do it myself!

Any RTR should be gone thru just to be sure All screws are tight and in place. Sometimes shipping is hard on these things and shake screws loose and sometimes right out of place. This way you, the end user, will be very familiar with your new model and save you headaches and disappointment.

I have seen guys break crankshafts off the front of their brand new nitro motors because they did not notice the mesh was too tight!! The factories try to do the best job they can with quality control but sometimes things get by them, and as end users, we have responsibility to be sure these fast cars are safe and reliable, before we set them loose!

So always check your ride before turning them loose! You will be less disappointed in the long run!!

I'm surprized that you have had so many problems...especially with your spur gear. I'd go ahead and switch to a 32 pitch spur and pinion - your pro should have suggested that one. You might have issues with your transmission servo (is this the one that already went out) since its kind of weak and the transmitter only has analog endpoint adjustment (digital endpoint adj. keeps the servo running much longer). The steering servo is also weak and may need replaced (I'm headed out later to get a Savox steering servo). The only thing I'd recommend is upgrading the hub hexes to the clamp-on style. I'm using the Losi hexes after shearing one of the tiny drive pins.

Wow..

I broke my first part yesterday after putting in my first 3s battery.

It's got a HH 13t motor & BRXL ESC, lots of torque!

At the end of my run it started pulling right and the rear diff was no longer locked.. I took off the wheel and it was obvious I stripped the hex and need stronger ones.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, my servo was basically DOA like everyone else but I guess I have been somewhat lucky other than that because I have put it through some abuse.

I'm sorry for the problems you have with the Twin Hammers, but I think you have the wrong purchase,
a new model is to be tested, it is preferable that normally is guided by experienced hands,
not by a young boy, who is usually not very delicate in handling the vehicle...
For a young boy I always suggest to buy a vehicle very tested and reliable,
and has spare parts readily available and low-cost.

Excuse me if I write this, but I speak from personal experience,
I also have a 11 year old child that driving RC vehicles.

Sorry to hear you are having so many issues with your TH. one thing to remember with these RC's is they are hobby grade and do require regular maintenance and up keep. It's like buying a race ready dirt bike. You can't expect to buy it, race the crap out of it and put it away with out any maintenance expecting it to be ready to race the next time you pull it out. With mine it got pulled outta the box, stripped down, end points set, gear mesh checked, and all hardware tightened and given the once over. I've had 20 or so packs through mine with out one issue, half of the run time being kids under the age of 6, so fairly hard abuse, full forward to full reverse and back to forward ( I have the delay turned off) the only real complaint I have with mine is the steering leaves a little to be desired. I hope that you get all the kinks out and your less than desirable experience dosnt detour you from future purchases

because not verybody is rich and can spent from the begining 500-600 $.it's more likely to purchase the car stock with no upgrades, and then buy upgrades in time,i think that's the reason why

That's a bummer.

Things that broke on mine are the battery tray (still functional) and broke the pin out of the inner front right cv joint (fixed with the shank of an old drill bit)

Both of those were probably from jumping it off a friends roof and nose diving.

Stock servos kinda suck, but that was expected. The stock DX3E radio broke... annoying but whatever and have a Futaba on the way.

Going through spurs like that doesn't seem right. The slipper on most (including mine) were nearly locked and I had no spur issues.

I have had my wallet molested by the TH as well, but man is it worth it now.....I am having a ton of fun....crawling, short course, bashing, this thing is ridiculous......but in the best way possible! read all the threads in this sub forum you can tolerate, you will get all the "fixes" your TH needs....and with a few tools - some of em are very low cost to do yourself!

That is too bad. Other than the initial shift servo issue which I replaced off the bat I and 3 others ran a Recon G6 with 200-300 trail markers and all finished. My stock steering servo started going out. All parts were going to be replaced anyway but I figured I'd run this as stock as possible before changing stuff I already had. Hope you get things worked out. It is a fun rig unless you want to do more crawling than speed.

Thanks for all the replies. I am just disappointed. This isn't my first rodeo. I spend more time working on the POS than having fun with my son and his car.

What steering servo does everyone recommend?

How do you check the slipper clutch on this style vehicle. I've only been shown how to adjust a 2wd short course vehicle, how similar is the tension?

I have a cs170 and hitec 7955 sitting on my desk. the 170 is pretty much the same servo just a hitec reject. Probably more than I need but more is better than not enough. Stick it out, it is a fun rig. I haven't had a go fast in a while and really like the fact I can crawl fairly well and still go faster than any of my other purpose built scalers.
