| "Twin 2" The Research & Development rig
After the fun i had building & running my "Crawl-Hammer", i kept my eyes open for spares and used ones. Two weeks ago i came across a well beaten TH without electronics except the 15t motor and with a broken front dogbone pin and broken wheel hex pin. I will use this rig to try a few things, mostly electronics, tires and TH parts. After a few hours of disassembling, cleaning and fixing, the rig is running with some spare electronics i had laying around. I installed a Hitec waterproof steering servo, a Turnigy 6V-3A BEC and a Hobbyking X-car ESC along with the stock motor with a 20t gear to improve crawling abilities. The rig came with HR aluminium hexes and a front locker. I went back to the open front diff with some add of a sticky rubber based material i got from a toy (silly putty`sh). The previous owner installed a Losi Night Crawler driveshaft for the rear end, i didn't liked it and installed a Traxxas driveshaft mostly for the scale-look. to protect the shaft i made new longer upper links out of 4mm solid Carbon-fiber and Traxxas heims. I also did inspect the transmission and it was in excellent conditions, no wear at all, so i lubrificated it an it runs butter-smooooth...!!! Last edited by tomster; 08-19-2014 at 08:04 AM. |

Its the traxxas #1951 half shaft kit together with the Traxxas #4628X hardened steel yokes. I used two female shafts and one male shaft wich i sleeved internaly with a 4mm Carbon fiber rod, to get a longer and stouter driveshaft. Love the scale look of those on the Twin! I already used these shafts on several AX-10 builds and are very happy with the weight/strength ratio they offer! |

Hi! I will make a pic next time it is open! In the meantime i installed the Vaterra HD outdrives for the front diff: They seem really beefy and well made! To get all the suspension up-travel i had to grind the A-arms a bit because of the bigger OD . While i had the front-diff open i filled it with 1.000.000 fluid from Hobbyking (trackstar), but after a few tests on the rocks and a gravel road i will go back to the locker! it is way too hard in the fast stuff and opens to early on the rocks. For the upcoming European G6 in Austria i will install a 35t motor instead of the stock 15t, it seemed to fast for my style of driving... |

Installed a 35t RC4WD can and love it! I also got some new tires and wheels : Iroc RC4WD on Axial Beadlock and my own "Trail ready" rings: |
