Default ASRC legacy winch controller 2A

introducing the first of hopefully many more lines to come from Awesome-Sauce RC, the legacy winch controller 2 amp

The legacy winch controller is primarily for your scale or low end modified servo winch that requires no more than 2 amps at stall.

multiple modes of operation for flexibility:
  • button only functions with 2 button wired remote as an rx independent device if you dont have or cant spare an aux channel.

  • 3 pos aux control with button functions

  • 2 pos aux control with button functions
2p aux alternates on each activation between in and out

Aux signal capture features:
  • Aux channel auto detect and self setup of channel type

  • fast failsafe activation that kicks in with just over one missed frame rate approx 23.7ms
normal operations are stopped until a valid signal pulse train of xxx framerates have been seen back on the input

  • active glitch filtering in the signal capture portion of the code to eliminate uncommanded functions that would be triggered by a brief radio signal glitch
    tested with a glitchy ar3/ax3 tx/rx

  • spektrum radio trouble free operation, all development and testing done with spektrum radios

Winch functions:
  • user adjustable max voltage output
run a 3s but only let the winch see a portion of that if you want to run it at a lower voltage

  • variable speed for winch out/in available in all operation modes

  • soft start

  • 3s lipo (12.6v) capable, tested to more though,
input voltage range of 6v to 12.6v

  • maximum suggested current of 2 amps, repeatedly tested and verified

The controller gets its power from the battery input so their is no max voltage limit on the rx side to worry about.

*** minor code update***

added framerate detection for radios with fast frame rates such as futaba (FASST,FHSS,FASSTEST).

the 6ms or thereabouts futaba framerate made selecting between standard or variable winch operations a bit tricky due to how the code was constructed to use elapsed captured frames as opposed to pause/wait style commands when a delay period was required.

the added code has been tested down to a 5ms framerate and now regardless of whether the radio is running at 5ms or 20ms frames the controller behaves in the correct manner as now all variables used in the code are dynamically adjusted during autodetect to ensure any required delay periods are run correctly.

this issue only affected futaba and the 2 style aux method of control i use in my code

**********

the pcb and components have been given several generous coats of sillicon conformal coating to waterproof them.

the legacy winch controller is priced at $30CAD + shipping, ( for those using USD check out the exchange rate, it goes in your favor ;) )

if you have any questions please feel free to ask

Will the ASRC legacy winch controller run on 2S?

it sure will, sorry lol should have specified more on the voltage but yes its happy between 5-6v to full 3s (12.6v).

i ran my controller/winch on 2s most of the time.

thanks,

i do seem to have an obsession with surface mount it seems lol but its fun.
as for features i guess thats another obsession too lol, gotta fill that unused code space with something usefull lol, but thanks for the comment, much appreciated.

This may be the answer i need! Every heyok controller ive had gives us trpuble with our spektrum radios, and i cant figure it out....This may be the answer i need! Every heyok controller ive had gives us trpuble with our spektrum radios, and i cant figure it out....

im glad my specs for this are pleasing, makes all the laaaaaate nights worthwhile

the spektrum issue is definately one thats caused issues for all in general ( not just heyok ), i think even 3racing had to alter their controller to work with it in the end, but it just needs to be approached from a different angle and all works well ;) never had any issues coding/testing/debugging with them as yet.

thanks,

tony

Do you have any plans to come out with a higher amp controller?
